$1 seems reasonable price for a song, $1.50-$2 tops.

Not too many songs I'm going to buy, but at $1 a pop, it's not that bad.

Higher Ground, Bark at the Moon, perhaps Cowboys from Hell, and, um, wow, It's been so long since I played GH1 I don't even remember the songs.

That's too expensive. All the songs from the first game would end up costing over $40. The whole tracklist from the first game should run no more than $20 total. They should be released in 10 song packs for $5 a piece or something like that.

It would be $47 total. That's crap if I can't have a disk on which I own them.

In a recent interview one of their guys stated that downloadable tracks should cost as much as other online music places.. I'm guessing around a buck or so.. but I'm guessing they're going to release them in "packs" of 5 for 400pts.. Which would be cool with me.

I think it would be so cool to have MC as one of the guitarists. Him and many other Xbox characters.

If its per song I probably wont buy them :( I already paid 90 for this so adding a dollar on top per. I would shell out for a well designed song pack say 5-6 songs for 400 points.

What a rip-off. Instead of putting the songs directly on the GHII disc, no, there's $$$ to be had.

I'm not getting GHII anyway, so actually I don't care. :-)

#4, you wouldn't own them either way. You would own a license to use them.

Wait, so you have to pay to download the Guitar Hero 1 songs, and then you have to pay to download the new songs that the PS2 version didn't get? How many songs total is all this?

There'll be all the songs from GH2 on PS2, plus the Ten exclusives and then the 47 from the original GH if you buy them all.

I'm hoping they do some more popular songs too, i'd love to do Boston's 'More than a feeling' and MCR's 'Black Parade'.

I like the songs on GH1 more than GH2, so I hope they release all of the tracks. I'd rather have the whole tracklist be bought for $20, than dividing it up into smaller packs.

Just got it yesterday at CC thanks to a snafu on the website that allowed me to pick it up in store. I never played it before and I must say it is pretty awesome. I would love to see more songs added. Individual and value 5 packs would be great especially theme packs.

I'm just wishing I lived in the US right now, England gets its games on a Friday...like wtf? I think all games should be shipped worldwide on a monday to provide people with something to get them through the crappiest day of the week.

They won't do this for the UK as all music CDs and movie DVDs are released on a Monday. Putting games on the same day would result in Monday being a ridiculously busy shopping day and the rest of the week being rubbish (for the entertainment industry anyway).

I think DDR had pretty good pricing with their additional content priced at 100 points a track.

80 points a track would be ideal with 10 song packs selling for say 600 points. ($7.50 US)

I would say anything over 80 points per song will be priced too high.

A) I wouldn't expect all 47 songs to be available
B) I would pay $2 per song if they allow you to pick and choose single songs (I don't want to be forced with songs I don't want)
C) The most important question noone seems to be asking, will the GH1 tracks support seperate guitar and bass tracks?

@10

This is purely semantics, but if I own the disk on which the songs are stored, I do own the actual copies of the licensed tracks Red Octane has sold me. I may not own the right to reproduce those tracks, but if anything, Red Octane owns the license, not me. Licenses can be revoked. You're not going to tell me that of the 300+ CDs I have that I merely own a license to play them.

With a physical disk on which the songs are stored, I can resell it. With downloadable content, I cannot do such a thing which to me means that they better come at a discount rate.

60 cents. Yep, just 60. I mean, TV shows that are an 1 long or 2 are only 120 points, right? I mean, your not buying a new level, just 3 extra minutes of gameplay. I know it's not great logic, but no matter what I'd buy them. This is just what *I* would price them as. Especially since them game is $90.

Honestly, I'm figuring around 100 to 150 points a song in general... but I'm hoping there's a big pack of the original GH's songs for maybe $20 to $30.

Still, if they're all available separately, there's really only a handful that I REALLY would want to get. Smoke on the Water, Ziggy Stardust, More Than a Feeling and Spanish Castle Magic come to mind.

This would be nice, but you have to figure a lot more things into this. That show has already been aired so it has commericial ad revenue. They have DVDs for revenue. They have Xbox Live, iTunes and who knows what else for revenue. They have syndication for revenue.

Even with music on iTunes, the vast majority of it is also available physically. It's essentially just another means of selling it.

When it comes to songs in GH, there's none of that. The label and the original artist get more revenue out of it for nothing... but Red Octane needs to pay for that, they have to pay the cover band and they need to pay to develop it. If anything, all the free guitar hero and Guitar Freaks things on PCs do is prove that it's pretty damn difficult to match button presses up to a song well.

I just think considering all of this a lot of that "well, I can't sell it" stuff winds up meaning very little. I'm not saying I want to spend a lot on each song and I hope they'll figure out some way to get them at around a buck apiece, but we're talking very different logistics here.

just make 'em cheap... I will probably buy them one by one no matter how much they end up costing me since I am so stoked about this game finally coming out for the 360.

They should be included. I'm going to pay almost a 100 clams for this game and Red is going to nickel and dime me to death?

Less than a buck - if not free.

Let's talk multiplayer. Implement multiplayer (finish your game) and will talk later.

Hopefully they offer all of the songs in one pack. I'd pay $30-40 for all the GH1 songs. I've never played it, so it wouldn't be bad for me. I also hope they put those 250 achievement points for DLC with them. I imagine playing songs to be that much more fun knowing I get an achievement for doing so.
