Readers pick best webcomic: old rivalries

Mario and Sonic team up, so it's time to draw some old blood. For predicting future issues of Sonic and Mario Olympics -- specifically for the final scene in the comic, as cited by many readers -- Fanboys Online earns the rather dubious honor of webcomic of the week.

Second place goes to Penny Arcade's look into the shady underbelly of GameStop and third place was nabbed by the recently-returned Press Start to Play. Thanks to everyone who voted and be sure to let us know of any game-related webcomics you stumble upon this week!

VGCats' Viva Pinata inspired strip has not been included in a Joystiq poll, and now Scott has moved on to a Zelda inspired strip.

Wow, I recognized all of that PA strip as recycled posts on video game blogs (no less than a dozen commenters on Joystiq have said exactly that), and yet it still gets second place. Either everyone who ever said that voted for PA because they agree, or people just reflexively vote for PA because of fanboy reasons.

I hope for the former, but fear the latter is true.

And you prove my point about fanboys, Arno. I love when people on the Internet rush to prove me right about my misanthropy.

Honestly, if you want me to dig through Joystiq's comments to find many people who already said everything in that comic multiple times, I can. I know it's tough, but that PA strip is just recycled comments from blogs. It didn't even add any new jokes.

If the truth is trolling, I don't want to ever stop.
