i think developers need to stop testing the waters with the wii, and just make new games for it. enough with the porting already.

on a side note, i would buy RE4 if it came out for the wii. i love that game.

I wouldn't mind rehash of the same stuff if it really utilizes the Wii controls...and if the games are lower than the going retail price for a new Wii game (i.e. MAKE IT CHEAP!).

My two cents:

Cent one, companies want to get titles onto the Wii fast it is hot right now and they want a bite of that cake. Face it the Wii was a gamble that most devs were not willing to make, now it has paid off and they need in. If they start a new game now it will be next year before they have it out and will have missed their chance to realy sell while the system is the new hotness. The new games will begin development, but in the meantime I do accept these ports as good will. I do want new games more, but I understand that that would take longer than these companies are willing to wait.

Cent two, I would buy RE4 on the Wii even though I bought it on the Cube if the budget pricing is true. I do not mind the idea of playing an old game with new controls as long as I do not have to pay the same price as a brand new game.

If this were Joystiq, this post would be a joke about where those hamsters and gerbils really are...

Battalion wars would be a decent bit better on Wii, but that's what we BWII for. MP and MP2 obviously, but that's what MP3's for. Baisically, sequels will take care of much of the revisions that are possible.

Well honestly when I first learned about Wii's capabilities RE4 immediately sprung to mind. For the way the game is set up would be very friendly to the nunchuk wii-mote control. Other games worth remaking for the wii could be, anything from the Metal Gear Solid series, Mario Power Tennis, and even possibly Eternal Darkness.

I'd like to see a director's cut of Eternal Darkness hit the Wii. Wouldn't buy it if it didn't include extra stories I haven't seen before...

As long as developers upgrade graphics to take advantage of the more powerful hardware, I think ports are okay. Of course, they would also have to polish game design, squash bugs and perfect controls. I think what many find upsetting about ports is the laziness many developers show by leaving flaws in place. Capcom is a good example of how ports can work with the Resident Evil series on the gamecube.

I agree with automag5. The perceived notion of ports are that the developers or publishers are lazy, never mind it takes time money and resources for a whole new game.

I'm a new nintendo user, i moved from playstation one to xbox and now i have a wii, i just finished RE4 on the wii, it was great, really great, i also played metroid prime, and Zelda wind waker on the wii, i never owned a game cube, and except for 2-3 good games out for the wii, the rest are not that good, I might not be the standard, but if other wii players are like me, they never had a game cube and they are currently playing game cube games. porting a game cube game to the wii might not be the smartest thing. i finished the game last week, why would i play it again. i never played the same game twice anyway (except for sports and racing games, online halo too)

#10 only 2-3? Come on, there has to be at least 10...

Anyways, I'd probably buy RE4 for the Wii, IF it was budget priced and IF it controlled well.

I think Hunter (#2) makes some good points. I really think developers were caught off guard by the Wii's amazing success. You can damn well bet 3rd-party developers are scrambling to get some software out for the console as we speak, but until then the "ports" are going to have to hold us over. I'm hoping we're going to end up with some great, original, new franchises this time around, but it's goign to take a while.

And Hirsbrunner (#6), I am so with you. Is there another game that would work better on the Wii? I think it would sell bucketloads. Bring it on!

10 good games?! 10 was right, 2-3 vary for taste. All i can think of is Zelda, Whichever mini-game game you prefer and Sonic. The rest are just meh, like elebits or Call of Duty.

I personally think that Killer 7 as a remake or preferably sequel would be great on the Wii. You wouldn't have to worry about moving the screen or anything like that, but it would basically be like a light gun game... Sort of.

The "budget price" is not budget enough for me. RE4 is $20 new on the Cube right now (I've seen it for $10 occasionally.) $30 is TOO MUCH for a port of it.

Of course, Capcom has always been all about porting old RE games to Nintendo systems at high prices.

I think it's a great idea to revamp games for the Wii. However, they shouldn't be resold at $50 MSRP. I think maybe re-released games with Wii controls tacked on should cost $30 instead of $50. For example, RE4--I never played it because I didn't own a GameCube. But asking me to pay $50 for a game that I could find for $20 now is kind of ridiculous. I love the idea, but pricing doesn't make sense this way...

I'd love to see Ico, and Shadow of the Collosus would be amazing.
