This video is a hoax! The Stacker company is trying to fool gullible people into thinking they too can win big.

I'd be more concered about the XBOX 360 hitting the prize chute than the Wii. A strong breeze could warrant the red ring of death on that thing.

IIRC, If you listen to the first one, I think someone in the video says it was $20. The normal stackers are $1, but those ones are much bigger and cost much more.

"According to an operator's manual for the game, the approximate win per play ratio can be set as low as 1 in 800 for the major prize. Players and even machine operators have said that on the last few levels the system appears to "cheat" by not stopping the moving block when the player pushes the button. These odds are maintained by a very short ‘sweet spot’ generated as the light is lit on and off faster than reflexes allow. This is to ensure that the operator does not lose money from constantly giving out prizes for this relatively straightforward game."

thats how all sorts of Claw-grabber based games work. it's all a matter of playing the machine at the right time when it is scheduled for a pay-out. you can sit around and watch enough people play to figure out the routine if you really wanted to. for small pay games it can be as low as 1 in 10, but like you said, most major games have incredibly high odds.

I won a PSP from one near me, but unfortunately I do not carry a video camera with me to video tape my adventures at my local pizza shop, nor do I know anyone who does.

I wish I could place the reference I'm thinking of... guy goes into the low-rent room of a big Vegas casino, where the games are like "guess the number" and other complete frauds like this. Dude gives the dealer his money and says, "Did I win?" The dealer says "No." Goes on like 3 more times... maybe a National Lampoon flick? Anyway, that's exactly what these things are, once you have a bit of skill. You just keep throwing your money in hoping that you'll "draw" the one time it gives a chance of winning. If that's not a glorified slot machine, I don't know what is.

@ James #8 It was some Leslie Nielson parody film of Godfather and other mafia movies.

SPOILERS

Like the man with no thumb, the turning color of the grapes, the guard ducks, DJing old vynl record, hiding in an ass's ass, swimming the Atlantic after missing the boat, eye worms, rooster laying egg on roof, daughter's wedding giving favors, Vietnamese as a souvenir, giant meatballs from a can, men are like cheese...., say hello to little friend, blah blah blah, taking over a casino, etc. and finally the Eskimo harpoons Barney and is an international hero. And the horroscope in the end credits that you are going to watch a movie.

That this video came out so soon after the first one, I'm going to have to say that it is a hoax as well. There is no way that it's a coincidence that a Wii and then an Xbox 360 got won from the same type of machine in the same week AND had a camera ready. This is probably a viral marketing campaign.

As much as I'd like to believe this were real, I think I may have to agree with #10 for his/her stated reasoning. One video is plausible but a second one and so soon after?

Either this is an event that happens far more often than most of us probably realized AND there happens to be someone with a camera nearby or these incidents were staged.

I remember seeing one of these things one time were the PSP had fallen off it's hook. Literally the glue holding the plastic ring came unstuck from the system and the box lay on the floor of the "Grab me" prize area. Whomever won a prize would have gotten two...lucky bastard.

I would interpret the guy's calm walking as "I better get out of here before I get jumped." And there's a guy with some thingamajig in his hands - looks like he's going to club him.

#10 and #11-

Could is possibly be that one was filmed way before the other and the sighting of the one video prompted the other one to be uploaded?

hvnlysoldr @ #9

It isn't a Leslie Nielson film, as #8 mentioned it is a National Lampoon film, Vegas Vacation. It is at the point of the movie when Clark needs to win all the money he lost in the real casinos and Cousin Eddie takes him to these smaller casinos with games like War and Guess the Number. They also use the money Eddie has buried in the backyard from various medical experiments.

Also, some claw games may have a scheduler, but I have not experienced many. How most of them work is that the tightness of grip of the claw can be adjusted by the employees so they can change it if people keep loosing/winning...

@inspecality

Asians keep winning because we love our gambling and our gadgets. So, chances are when we win (we play so much, it's bound to happen), there'll be someone nearby with a cam-phone.

I played Stacker for the first time yesterday, and I won a cool electronic gadget, too!

. . .I'm now the proud owner of a Chinese-made "Flashing Rubber Crownfish" (it's a clownfish, but it's actually spelled "crownfish" on the package).

It's what it says it is: A rubber clownfish with a triple-LED sphere inside of it. When you squeeze it, it flashes red, amber, and blue in an epilepsy-inducing display of high-tech wastefulness. And it has a string on it, so you can hang it up somewhere.

Thank you, Stacker!
