A few Halo 3 weapon details, you'll shoot yer eye out
GamePro has a few new details on the Halo 3 weaponry in an interview with Bungie's Frankie, which should help satiate you until the game comes out. You can also view it as a cruel tease (as we do) because we want to try these things out now, not months into the future. They hint at more grenade options, talk about updating the Assault Rifle, tweaking the Needler, and the Master Chief's ability to dual-wield the Brute Spike Rifle. Which just sounds pretty painful just reading about it.
When it comes to the details we all really need, like when the beta starts, and how big the file will be, they remain pretty tight-lipped. Hand us that upgraded Needler and we'll make 'em talk.

No offense to Gamepro, but didn't we already know basically all of this stuff from previously hinted interviews and videos?
I mean, we've all certainly seen the pictures of the dual Spike Rifles. And the info on the upgraded BR and Needler are nothing new.
But before I go any further, I should most likely read the article, and not just joystiq's synopsis, lest I end up with my foot in my mouth.

who cares
just when is the beta coming?

I have this funny feeling that this game is going to kick serious ass. I'm not even that big of a Halo fan, though when Halo1 dropped I thought it was pretty awesome.

You mean 3rd.
And I correct myself, I enjoyed this interview, and Bungie's willingness to not be quite so air-tight for once. Good work.
Especially the part about the needler still causing "assplosions".

I guess this proves that Halo is for the kiddies.

For this game to outsell Halo 2, 80% of 360 owners will need to buy it. That's a higher attach ratio than even Twilight Princess. I wonder if they can pull it off, and if so, how long it will take. If they can do it, it would be the first game to break GoldenEye's best-selling FPS record (later tied by both Half-Life 1 and Halo 2, but never surpassed).

I love when you know about something and no one else knows. This is one of those cases! I'm not telling what I know either =D

@ 6
That's not entirely true. All things being the same, that would be true. But the fact of the matter is this game will most definitely be a system seller if ever there was one. People will pick up the 360 just for this game.
Rubang B @ Apr 5th 2007 8:03PM
I think it'll do it. I've just been surprised before, with games like Half-Life 1 and Halo 2. For GoldenEye to hold the record for 10 years is ridiculous, especially with how big shooters are these days. It's about time it passed the torch.
LongshotX @ Apr 5th 2007 8:52PM
Halo 3 will exceed the sales of Halo 2 and it will hav a huge impact on the Xbox 360 fanbase. Halo isn't just a game, its a cultural phenomenon. And Master Chief is wayyy cooler than Mario ever was.
Mr Khan @ Apr 5th 2007 8:58PM
See, i disagree
Halo 2 dropped at the right time, a great game later in the console's life, the userbase was there and you could get that level of sales
certainly it shall be a system seller, but there are barely 10 million 360s sold (although the number shipped sits at 11.5 or so)
I'd say it'll hit 5 million by the end of the holiday season, with Brawl (if it appears) being a close second to that
Something tells me that GTAIV's sales are going to dissappoint when compared to those of Vice City and San Andreas...
LongshotX @ Apr 5th 2007 9:04PM
Brawl as in Super Smash Brother? Get the fuck outta here?
Rubang B @ Apr 5th 2007 10:52PM
Halo 2 was the best-selling game on the XBox. Smash Bros. Melee was the best-selling game on the GameCube. Both of their sequels are coming out this Christmas. IT'S ON! Also, the Wii should reach 10 million by Christmas, so it's SUPER ON! And Halo 3 doesn't have Solid Snake and most likely Sonic. I think San Andreas was the best-selling game on the PS2, so this Christmas is just nuts.
Martez @ Apr 6th 2007 12:03AM
It would be really smart of Bungie and LEGO to make a Lego Halo game.
I'd buy it.
dark @ Apr 6th 2007 1:21AM
Oh boy, its sooooo freakin on. Lets get it oooooowwwnnn! eh heh?
I need some sleep.
Petrie @ Apr 6th 2007 5:21AM
San Andreas wasn't the best selling PS2 game, that title was Gran Turismo 3 A Spec
Rubang B @ Apr 6th 2007 7:12AM
@Petrie, Where'd you get that info? www.VGChartz.com says this:
