Boom Boom Rocket blasting XBLA mid-April

When I first read the headline, I thought it said Chu Chu Rocket, and got excited...

Is it just me or does this look like a ripoff of Fantavision?

I remember when this game was called Fantavision. It sucked then, too.

Ive been holding out on a 360 until a price drop, but if they released a good chu chu rocket game on xbla, i would probably go out and get one right now.

This looks slightly amusing, but seriously, I freaking want Chu Chu Rocket!

Read up on the game before you start dissing it: Fantavision required you to go for fireworks of the same colour with a cursor, switching between colours with the multicoloured firework. With Boom Boom Rocket each firework as a directional arrow inside that you have to press when the firework reaches the its apex. Saying "It's Fantavision" is the like saying Columns is the same as Tetris.

Agreed on both counts. Chu Chu Rocket would be awesome and if they could do Bomberman (like the Saturn version i.e. 10 player) that would be excellent!

The 10 player mode kind of sucked on the Saturn though because it was just the one (and most boring) map. I much prefer the 8-player mode (which still rocks)

I'm definately picking this one up. The arcade has had too many old school ports, Chu Chu Rocket blah, go play it on your dreamcast gramps! We want new titles and this looks like a great one!

The people making the Fantavision reference I'm guessing have never even played it but just feel like whining.. Because if you played it and know what Boom Boom is about you would realise they are very different games.

I'm a sucker for pretty vibrant color orgasms on screen... so I've been looking forward to this. ;)

lol, thats what I thought too, chu chu rockets. That game was so hyped up I don't even know why people like it so much, its alright, but not addictive.

I'll only get this if it has a free fireworks mode, without musical objectives.

That game was not hyped up at all. It only even got mention back in the day because it was made by Sonic Team. The single player wasn't super addictive, but if you had 3 non-retards to play with you, the multiplayer was a blast. This is why people are excited about the thought of it on XBL (on another planet - not the one that revolves around you).
