Joystiq Podcast 004 - Or IV, if you prefer edition (feat. CheapyD)
Another edition of the weekly Joystiq Podcast has arrived, surprisingly within a week of the last one! This fourth edition finds our Cheap Ass Gamer friend, CheapyD, taking a break from his CAGcast endeavors and joining us for what's likely to be one of the longest hours in his life. Thank heavens he's arrived to give us some pointers -- the multimillion dollar production that is the Joystiq Podcast was starting to spiral dangerously out of control.Get the podcast:

Sweet Guitar Hero! Rockin it in the air =) Anyone else a fan?
Rubang B @ Apr 6th 2007 12:47AM
Haha, C. Grant pronounced Koyaanisqatsi wrong!
And make that Bladerunner happen.
And keep the massive damage jokes coming.
Rubang B @ Apr 6th 2007 1:26AM
Aww come on guys, play nice. Your podcast made my Wii cry. Now I need to go keep it company with a REAL Sonic game. ZING!
Adam540 @ Apr 6th 2007 11:09AM
I cannot listen to the entire podcast at all.
I tried the mp3, i tried the itunes, i tried saving it, the closest i got was half way through. What the hell man. I just wanna listen to the damn thing but i can't. What is wrong with this damn thing.
Luke Stapley @ Apr 6th 2007 3:00AM
Most Annoying Ending EVAR!!
At least it was better than Major Nelsons 8 minutes of silence shenanigans.
Mark Wilhelm @ Apr 6th 2007 9:29AM
Interesting. I've never played NiGHTS either. Don't feel like I'm missing much, though...
C. Grant @ Apr 6th 2007 11:03AM
Rubang B: I had *that voice* from the trailer in my head the whole time but as soon as the word wasn't written down in front of me, I couldn't recall it for the life of me! :)
C. Grant @ Apr 6th 2007 11:34AM
Adam540: We've got no other complaints, and it seems to be working for everyone here. Have you tried downloading it from another browser perhaps?
32_Footsteps @ Apr 6th 2007 12:30PM
"It's something you step on, like the floor! The floor is free, why shouldn't the pedal be free?"
I don't know about your preferences, but if I ever rented or bought a place that didn't have a floor, I'd expect a huge price drop on it. So yeah, I pay for my floor.
Ludwig Kietzmann @ Apr 6th 2007 12:57PM
A price DROP, you say? :D
Finn @ Apr 6th 2007 1:02PM
I was one of the people defending the wii on that post about cooking mama the other day. And I certainly wasn't defending cooking mama. My point the entire time, is that you should try SSX and to a slightly lesser extent Godfather before saying that the wiimote doesn't work with all games and that's it's a problem across the board.
Finn @ Apr 6th 2007 1:04PM
btw that was my first time listening to your podcast, and it was very good
C. Grant @ Apr 6th 2007 1:05PM
Finn: Yeah, understood. It's not that we don't think it can work, or that it doesn't already work in some instances, it's just that it doesn't work in many games and saying as much is grounds for a public hanging nowadays! :)
I still have to get Godfather for Wii, I keep hearing about it.

lol I'm not one of those guys either (or at least I try not to be) I think people are all entitled to their own opinion and to be honest, I havn't played all the wii games and the bad ones do seem to outway the good so far. Just thought that I'd point out those 2 that for me anyway proved that it's a viable system for traditional games and could in fact improve them in some way. But I do also recognize that you can't play every game that comes out.
I am just very selective about what I buy and Luckily I've got those 2 and they both work very well for me.
I think you guys are right though, people do seem to get rather emotional about it. And if I come across that way I apologize.
C. Grant @ Apr 6th 2007 1:23PM
Nope, you came across as uniquely sane. :)
C. Grant @ Apr 6th 2007 1:26PM
"btw that was my first time listening to your podcast, and it was very good"
Really? You listened to the Joystiq Podcast, right?
Finn @ Apr 6th 2007 1:33PM
"Really? You listened to the Joystiq Podcast, right?"
lol yeah I liked it... not quite 1up yours just yet, but entertaining none the less. The guy from cheap ass gamer as a good radio voice too. 1up has been doing it a lot longer though too.
It's kinda funny when you post on these sort of things you never know if the people actually go threw and read the stuff you post, and after listening to you podcast it's painfully clear that you do. Which is something I like because as I said before, nobody has the time to play everything out there. And it's also nice to hear your opinions in more detail than what a few paragraphs can sometimes get across.
Plus I'm at work and don't have much else to do when I'm in the office.
Finn @ Apr 6th 2007 1:52PM
Nope, you came across as uniquely sane. :)
that's good to here btw
Ken @ Apr 6th 2007 3:50PM
I imagine that in a year the Wii-mote will work alot better than it does now.
Works fine in Twilight Princess. Works fine (for the most part) in Warioware.
But yeah, it's pretty hard to do it in Cooking Mama, Red Steel, well you get the idea.
Elebits' controls are pretty spot on though. That game is fun and unique.
I couldn't listen to the podcast though :( I'm at work.
C. Grant @ Apr 6th 2007 3:51PM
Well you can always listen at home, right Ken? You do go home, right? RIGHT?!
Ken @ Apr 6th 2007 4:09PM
:( You make me cry.
But alas, the video card of my computer at home went out. So I had to send it in. This is my only internet outlet for about two weeks.
Sean @ Apr 6th 2007 7:16PM
It might not be that people are getting upset with every instance of Wii-bashing on here. I like the website and I like the podcast, but it DOES get annoying when about ninety percent of all posts on Joystiq mentioning the Wii have some sort of bad thing to say about it.
Verve @ Apr 6th 2007 7:16PM
RSS feed doesnt work
Rubang B @ Apr 7th 2007 3:42AM
I think most self-proclaimed hardcore gamers (like most game reviewers and journalists) are insulted by Nintendo's philosophy behind the Wii, because they figure "if it ain't broke, don't fix it." What they don't realize is that Nintendo is expanding the market and NOT replacing it, just like the PlayStations expanded the market but didn't replace Nintendo. Nintendo is bringing balance to the force. The industry couldn't be ruled by the evil empire of Maddens, Halos, and GTA clones forever. ¡Viva la Revolución!
wiigamesblog @ Apr 10th 2007 11:30PM
Awesome! I can play the podcast through the wii =p
