Super Rub 'a' Dub makes a splash on Europe PS3 Network

Super Rub 'a' Dub, the one-time tech demo turned PlayStation Network game, is now available to download for European PS3 owners. In the game, the Sixaxis tilt control is used to balance the world and move the big duck around, akin to Monkey Ball, and try to collect all the little rubber duckies before reaching the exit.
The game has an "introductory price" of 4.99 Euros / 3.49 British pounds (approximately US $6.75) until May 23. Trailer of the game embedded after the break. No word on when the US version is arriving.

Now I need to buy a PS3

If nothing else, Ill give them credit for releasing ORIGINAL network titles. Unlike the Wii which keeps charging $5-$10 for a game I already have played into the ground.
Rubang B @ Apr 5th 2007 6:53PM
Genius, there's no way you played all 72 VC games "into the ground." Did you really have all 5 systems back in the day? My Wii's becoming a TG-16 revolution.
Mr Khan, since this game all takes place in little pools or sinks or whatever, there's no way it could do all the 90 and 180 degree turns that are in Kororinpa. That game has you all over the ceiling and whatnot. If this game does that with some sort of magic anti-gravity water, then it's super awesome, but I think it's more like a Kirby's Tilt 'n' Tumble than a Kororinpa. These games are all like crack though.

ha. have any one noticed that europe has been getting the upperhand when i comes to getting downloadable content or updates first? like the gt hd 1.2? i think sony is getting alittle cranky with us complaining how much sony sucks at there job. they act so much like children...
AssemblyLineHuman @ Apr 5th 2007 9:41PM
Rubang B: But that doesn't change the fact that this game is cheaper than VC games (except the NES), and this one actually had development costs!
hvnlysoldr @ Apr 5th 2007 9:46PM
The development costs couldn't save it from getting a 3 from IGN PS3 UK

"i think sony is getting alittle cranky with us complaining how much sony sucks at there job. they act so much like children..."
Either that or they're trying to make up for releasing the PS3 in Europe six months after the US and Japan. It's a smart idea.
Rubang B @ Apr 5th 2007 10:58PM
@Assembly, I wasn't comparing this to VC games. I was just saying that somebody hadn't played all 72 VC games. How many do you have on your PSN though? 9? Kororinpa is a better game, but I like all games that play like this. I love all labyrinths, even the bullshit ones in Rayman.
Aberu @ Apr 5th 2007 11:09PM
@6:
We got the system earlier than them, how is that acting like children. The anti-sony fanboy child blogger movement has been around for a while, and they still released here for a cheaper price and at an earlier time. Explain that away. Don't accuse others of being childish when you are guilty of it yourself.
On that note, it looks like fun, but not my kinda game. It's mostly a tech demo to show off PS3 physics like they did at E3 a long time ago, and it's outdated by Wii titles that are better. I don't think it will sell that well. The only PSN title I like is Flow. That game is the precursor to Spore. 1/10th of Spore for 1/10th the price (most likely).
Rubang B @ Apr 5th 2007 11:16PM
Actually all of these are outdated by Kirby's Tilt 'n' Tumble for the Game Boy Color in the year 2000.

This is a perfect game for those small people running around the house. I grap one and let kids play this. Do not critize this game if its too simple, you have just grown up too much.
For 5e its a worth every penny if they like it and no doubt they love it.
Lumpee @ Apr 6th 2007 9:11AM
I downloaded the game this morning, is actually pretty fun and looks nice. And kids love it as whome said.

Well I donwloaded it and was quite surprised. If you're into the whole idea of compeleting a level as fast and expertly as possible then there's a lot here. The levels are quite easy to complete, even getting gold is easy first time on many of them, but the leaderboards are where the fun lies. I set a few world record times earlier, and I'm sure they've all been beaten since then so I'm looking forward to going back later to try and improve my times. Trying to find the perfect route through the levels is fun, and even if it's obvious a lot of the time the designs are good enough on many levels to make you want to keep advancing up the leaderboards.
KV @ Apr 9th 2007 12:14AM
This is a really cool game, and worth the cheap price, I just want more levels, I havent finished all 60 yet but i'm already worrying about getting thru it and not having any more fresh ones to do.
Its great that I finally have a game to play with my niece, I think she was getting really sick of watching me and her brother playing racing games and stuff like star wars lego, she really enjoys this game and we're all laughing our heads off at the funny game play.
If I do have a complaint, it'd be that there aren't tougher levels and that multiplayer isnt actually multiplayer at all, its just taking turns at the levels... what about multiple ducks racing to save the most lil ducks??!!
As for the review at IGN, it'd be quite clear to even the most dimwitted individual that the review there is very biased, although the point about this being Sony's debut for the first game that is controlled completely by motion sensing is quite true, its a great fun game but shouldnt be what Sony is using as it's trump card for the sixaxis controller!!

Review:
Awesome, just awesome - this game is amazing! At first I thought it wasn’t all that after seeing how it transitioned from the E3′05 demo but now that I’ve actually played it and not based my opinion on a negative review (insert well known games review site). This game is a real lil gem, it's so addictive it’s scary! Think Marble madness crazyness combined with Super Monkeyball tilting shenanigans in a pool of water with ducks'n sharks, this is what this game’s all about> FUN!
The controls are spot on, your in total control and whenever you mess up it is YOUR fault and nobody elses, you’d just brush it off and have another go, and another and another, it’s that addictive! hehe. When you come in the top 5 online scores, your replay is automatically uploaded for all the world to see!
This game is bargain, costing just under 4 squids/$8, you get loads of levels, it’s definitely a more justifiable/interactive purchase than flOw that’s for sure!
Go download the demo, try it, enjoy it, get the full monty and see for yourself how FUN it really is!
8/10
