You have your onomatopoeias all wrong!
"Pchoh! Pchoh! Pchoh! The Halo guy shot his pistol at the other Halo guy. Wssssh-ch! He changed weapons to the rocket launcher. Wgh-ch! He changed weapons to the sniper rifle. Ch! He changed weapons to the pistol. Wgh-ch! He changed weapons back to the sniper rifle. Pchwww! Pchwww! The Halo guy killed the other Halo guy. Now there were some more Halo guys coming toward him. Pchwww! Pchwww!"

The Halo books written by Eric Nylund are actually pretty good Military Sci Fi. The people saying "he changes weapons and fires a rocket laucher, then jumps..".. yeah. So you obviously haven't read the novels.

I don't play Halo but when I go out to lunch with a friend that does play Halo the play by play is pretty much how Tony wrote it down.

Yeah i have to agree with Watership. The Eric Nylund Halo books are actually really awesome. I didnt like the one book written by William Dietz I think it was. It just didn't read as well for some reason. I do love these books however i haven't gotten the chance to read this one yet...i need 8 bucks now.

The release is for what the publishing biz calls the "mass market paperback." You know how your existing paperback is pretty nice, but those Dean Koontz novels you buy while you're at the beach because you forgot your regular book at home are really crappy but they only cost like $4? Yeah, that's a mass market paperback.

Looks like MS is screwing over their fanbase, again. You fanboys better trade in your hardcovers for a paper back. It is things like this that make you glad to own a PS3 only. Man, the 360 just can't get anything but bad news lately.

I sell books for a living, and I see the kinds of guys who buy these, and all I have to say is that now I understand who it is I'm dealing with in here on Joystiq, and why some of you post the things you do.

`Nuff said.

Nylund's actually one of the better respected SF writers out at the moment. Haven't read the books, but I've heard that he's actually done a good job on them. Apparently, he's using them as a chance to pay homage to Heinlein and Card.

I can't believe the serious replies here. That excerpt was really funny. Some people have zero sense of humor.

@23
Xbots have no sense of humour - they are still worrying when the Super-Elite-Premium-Core+ version of the 360 will be announced and they are scared that they will not have saved another $480 for a half-baked console. Maybe the next one will have WiFi built into it because it MAY be important then. Or at least that what Microsoft will tell them.

Personally - I think the article was pretty funny - it's lost on the people who think it's a slight against the Xbox and/or Halo. Again, no room for independent thought in that crowd.
