This damaged Game Boy has been caught on Flickr a few dozen times already (credit goes to Plaid Ninja for the one above). The inscription explains that its modded casing was the result of a bombed barracks in the Gulf War. And yes, it still works (it can be seen playing Tetris). With reliability like that, it brings tears to our eyes every time we see a red ring or blue screen of death. Check out the highlights for today:

Has Microshaft EVER made anything that is even half as reliable as the typical Nintendo product?
I think not.

It's been said Nintendo build things like tanks. Think if they did it literally and really do take over the world.

One time I was walking home from school in the rain and was completedly soaked when I got home. Then I remembered my Game Boy was in my backpack and freaked out. It was soaked, and would not turn on. I almost exploded. I nagged my momz until she took it to a repair center a week later. The repair guy put new batteries in it, turned it on, and it worked fine. It just needed to dry out. And I thought THAT was cool. Then years later I found out about this Game Boy and the GameCube that got dragged by a car. Damn. Nintendo be crazy.

Actually, it stays in the Nintendo World store in NYC. They also have the prototype NES for U.S.A (with keyboard and some other accessories), like 30 GBA's with different styles and colors, and at the time, some NES 20th anniversary stuff.

Yeah, all that stuff at the Nintendo World Store is really cool. It's a small collection, but it's still really cool to see all of it in person.

When I was younger and had an original Game Boy, I was hauling up a bunch of vacation supplies into a motel room when the Game Boy slipped from a second story balcony and fell onto the concrete sidewalk below. I went down to look at it and, to my surprise, it still worked. Sure, it had a vertical line through the screen, but it amazed me nonetheless. I can't imagine doing that to any portable today - not even the DS line.

Curious lack of mention of ds lite hinge cracks and Nintendo Wii defective straps.

lol yeah. If you make near indestructible products, you want to make sure it doesn't go flying into less solid items like your TV.

When I was helping one of my friends move, we had to take down boxes from her third story apartment. I had my GBA SP in my back pocket, and when I bent down to pick up a box, it fell three stories through the air and landed on a hardwood floor. It lasted me for at least two or three more years, until I traded it in to pay for some over priced Collector's Edition game that, if I recall, wasn't even that good.

#coletrain, those DS Lite hinge cracks did nothing. Nobody's DS fell apart or exploded because if it. If you wanted, you could get it replaced FOR FREE. It's the Nintendo way.

That gb has been around. It was sitting around under the glass at the customer service desk/store at the NoA campus in Redmond when I saw it, that was 2003? I think?
