Today's realistic video: GTA IV trailer in real life
24
While its not a down-to-the-finite-details replica of the Grand Theft Auto IV trailer, it's pretty darned spot-on. If you factor in that he made it using only clips that he could find on YouTube, it's even more amazing. When they cut to that one shot of the actor ... you'll be wondering if they used that for the actual game trailer.
It's even more impressive that he was able to make it so close to the actual thing within his YouTube confines. Does this mean the GTA IV trailer-creators used very familiar scenes in and around New York? Or is it a sign that YouTube is just that much closer to taking over the world?
We may never know.

If it's not a PS2 port with tacked-on controls, it's not a Wii game.

Funny.
I love that effin' song. As long as the subject is real-life versions of the GTA IV trailer, I'd like to recommend the movie to which it's an homage: Godfrey Reggio's Koyaanisqatsi.

Most of it is footage from Koyaanisqatsi. The GTA4 trailer even used the same music from the trailer. Check out the Koyaanisqatsi trailer on Youtube here:

This trailer gets more badass everytime i see it. I didn't even realize it was like Koyaanisqatsi. I'm so excited for this game. Seriously the character progression is PERFECT, they did like an italian mobster type guy, an 80s criminal, a "ghetto" guy, and now what im guessing is a russian mafia type guy. I wonder who you'll play as next.

Um.. duh?
Let's see - they used the Brooklyn Bridge, the Empire State Building, the Statue of Liberty, and Times Square. No, I don't imagine those are scenes that would be very common on YouTube...
I'm actually more curious to see how well Rockstar models the areas of the city that *aren't* so well-traveled, because those are the areas most NYC residents would actually know. (Most residents actually actively *avoid* the tourist areas.) But then, it is of course *not* actually NYC but "Liberty City", so they can take as much creative license as they want with the layout and locations. Put an airport down in lower Manhattan, have the Brooklyn Bridge go to Queens, I mean whatever.

And NYC has two airports. One is Domestic (LGA) and one is International (JFK) so that might be incorporated, in addition to there being FIVE very DISTINCT boroughs, each with their own personalities and neighborhoods.
As a person who was born and raised in NYC, it'll be interesting to see how they do this. Especially since it's on Next Gen systems. Think Rockstar can get the NYC Public transportation system right? >:-D We have like a kajillion trains.

It's kind of funny "the graphics" on this are better, but the trailer's resolution is way better!

Pretty cool but sorta pointless. We all knew GTA IV was relevant to New York but is Liberty City. Also, the guy in the video is from Behind Enemy Lines...good movie

One of the best uses of new media I've seen in quite awhile. Post Modernism > Modernism.

I don't understand why people chime in with the "this is pointless" comment. Sometimes people like to be creative. Isn't that enough? Not every video has to rub your feet and make you a sandwich.

"Not every video has to rub your feet and make you a sandwich." Best comment EVER made with regard to ANYTHING. Brian is on his way to becoming my idol. Also, this is fairly crative in a someone-already-did-this kind of way, so don't bash it.

How comes the video wasn't tagged under PS3? Joystiq, please don't say you know something that we don't! :(
