I don't know if anyone else notice but the friends list/messages/guide button screens seem to run MUCH faster in the video than they do currently. If that really is the case...then this might actually be a worthwile update!

I wouldn't read too much into that #52. Gamespot often edits the speed of their videos for content purposes. If it's real time, I agree, that'd be sweet, but I wouldn't hold my breathe.

@Stranger FAG. Nah, J/K, but you made a point I never even thought of. Why do we have ads? Until you mentioned it, I thought of it as a something neat for us, rather than a way to force feed commercialist bull to us. I'm seriously not joking, I thought it was a perk until you mentioned it. I guess MS' PR is DAYMN good.

I'm not joking, I really looked at it as a perk. WHAT IS HAPPENING TO ME?!

I may have put another post in before, depending on if it went through or not, but I thought of something else. Live should really have a public comment system for users, so down where it shows the schievements, you could just get rid of the icons and instead show the 2 or 3 most recent comments left by fellow Live members. If the recipient of said comment thinks the friend (It'll be friends only to comment, but read publicly if you so choose it to be) left something vulgar, it'll be choosable in the Live Options menu thing, so it can be properly moderated.

See? This adding new ideas isn't too hard Razer, give it a try! Man up and make a list!

This all sounds very nice. I don't have a 360 yet, but Microsoft seems to be WAY far ahead of the other consoles in the online department.

This is all good, but when is MS finally going to integrate full media center/sharing functionality into the 360? It's 70% of why I bought the console (under the premise that it could play networked video/audio), but MS's proprietary bullshit (.wmv files, WTF is that? Who uses that?) continues to be the only supported format.

PLEASE, Microsoft, if you are listening, release an update with full access to media sharing in a wide variety of codecs (DivX, XviD, ogg, FLAC, the list could go on). This will not only corner the market as one of the cheapest, most intuitive ways to stream media (AppleTV aside) to the loungeroom, but given the fact that its gaming pedigree is already quite prestigious, most prospective buyers will see it as a complete loungeroom solution, replacing CD player, DVD player, existing consoles, HTPC, HD-DVD player, network video player, and Sonos-style audio device. And all controllable via the media remote or one of the brilliant wireless controllers.

Oh, and don't worry about risking a reduction in business for your media downloading system. 99% of people don't use their PCs to watch video, they use a TV with either FTA TV, cable/satellite, or DVDs. By marketing the Marketplace's TV/Movie downloads even moreso, the perceived 'risk' of allowing advanced users to stream their own legal media from their network to the lounge room will not dent the amount of those who want have the on-demand, legal, integrated (iTunes store-esq) system based on MS points or subscription. And this is because most people simply don't use PCs for video.

But let's not penalise or restrict those who do. That's a reduction of the basic liberty consumers assume they get when they shell out (Australian) $650 for a console.

How do you accidentally upload a large video like this on youtube.com? Really, come one guys such bullshit!
They did it on purpose.

MikhailM, if you read the article, it says Gamespot accidentally leaked it, and while it was up there, someone recorded it and put it up on youtube so that other people could see it after it was taken down.

I think the features they've added are going to be great. However, while reviewing this thread, I do agree there are some neat features they could have added like 4-way video + voice chat while out of game and other features mentioned.

I also went and reviewed that large thread on xbox.com about upgrades the community woudl like to see and honestly there were some pretty good ideas in there and I hope they'll add them all and more :)

If they had that, I'd probably be able to convince my anut to buy a 360 for her weekly class to my mother on the grounds of video + voice + no long distance + dvd + hd downloadable content + optional hd-dvd + + + + + + + and my anut isn't even a gamer :)

Don't care about any of these updates. All I want is 1680x1050 support through the VGA cables. Tell me this update adds that and I'll be happy (and I'll rush out and buy the VGA adapter immediately).

This is all very nice. To counter what one person wrote, I find it very easy to find my friends on Live. It tells me what they are playing and I can easily start a chat with several of them now, up to six.

The one update I really want to see is 360 upscaling through component to 720p. My Sony HDTV seems to do a pretty decent job upscaling DVD's played through the 360, but I'd like to see how well the 360 can do.

I'll put in a request for 1440x900 support for the VGA cable.

This community stuff doesn't do anything for me. I don't like people enough to keep a friends list of online strangers, and I don't do much online gaming. I don't do chat at all. Not on the computer, and certainly not on a game console.

These are all features teenagers will love, but for someone who already has all his pubic hair this socialization crap is silly. Give me features that enhance the single-player or offline multiplayer experience!

I was originally against the 360 having a web browser, but now I'd welcome it just to see it do something new and different that isn't focused on chat/community stuff.

I think each individual game is supposed to deal with this. And the offline multiplayer experience is kinda the way of the past. I'm not saying it shouldn't be around anymore, but trying to really innovate on that frontier goes hand and hand with online multiplayer. Something else that each game has to try and improve on its own.

Unless it takes someone at MS under an hour to implement , I hope they don't waste time on this.

I'm fairly impressed, but I'm a little mad that MS is forcing me to use MSN (Of coarse I use AIM, but I'm really not surprised by this). I was still really hoping for an internet browser but I wasn't expecting it. Still pretty sweet update!

I like the updates. I have a keyboard for my 360, so now I can chat with my buddies while I play Worms. But I could care less about the Marketplace getting it's own blade. The achievment thing is cool. But what I would like to see is Party Voice Chat. I would also like to send my friends video messages with my XBOX LIVE Vision Camera. I can video chat, make gamer pics, send pics, but not send video messages? Bullshit! Also, I would like to label my friend by thire names, like on MSN live. I'd rather have my friends labeled by names rather than their Gamertag, because some people change gamer tags alot and your like "Who the fuck is that guy!?!" Also, I would like to see something done about demo games. It shows up on your played games, so people ivite you to play and you only have the demo. A four person video chat would also be sweet, like on Uno. The new dashboard blade is usless. There was no point at all, for that. The MSN live is cool. The achievements is a plus. But all in all. This doens't sound like an awesome update. It seems like they are just rammin usless shit into the 360. I would rather see just one of my suggestion in this update rather than the ones they give. Also, what about a web browser? Seriously. The Wii can do it. And if you can talk to people on MSN live then you should be able to put a web browser on there.

Great, I have to buy a PS/2 keyboard now lol. I've gotten pretty good with all the button macros for typing but I dont think anyone will be good enough to IM with just the 360 controller. Atleast not a real IM convo anyway.

PS. I love Microsoft to the end but, Razer isn't entirely wrong here. Microsoft puts out some cool stuff but, they have an unseen agenda no doubt. They hold back alot and I'm not sure why. I'm pretty sure they've herd most of the ideas out there. You have to think that they've already done all the stuff you guys are asking for on Windows. They had to release vista early because of popular demand and see what happened. That OS isn't gonna work right for another year. Mabye they're just going slow so they can make sure this is debugged better. When it comes to movies, .WMV are their files so they are comfortable starting with them. I know all these things people are talking about WILL happen, it's just a matter of when. LOL, ohnestly, I think you guys who are being all feature needy should be computer gamers where you can do all the stuff your talking about. And yes, you can hook a computer up to a television pretty easy nowadays.
