Got a 95055. Everything works perfectly except the wammy bar. It often delays working, but once it starts it works perfect and reacts instantly. There has to be some kind of software error, either in the guitar or in the game. Hopefully it can be fixed with an update.

Friday, 4/6, 8:30 PM - Purchase 95055 unit from EBGames with no knowledge of guitar issues.

Saturday, 4/7, 11:05 AM - Take out guitar to play on 360 for first time. About 10 songs in, two fret buttons stop working, whammy bar unresponsive.

One word. Ridiculous.

For what it's worth, I picked up a 95065 box & guitar combo from Blockbuster in the UK yesterday, been playing a fair bit and I've not had any problems with the whammy, and I've put a fair few hours into the original on the PS2.

However, Star Power isn't as responsive as the PS2 guitar, but that might be me and being a lefty (even though I'm right handed in most things... eyethangu!)

Well, there's an update on my situation. I still suck at the game, only completed medium and first 12 songs on hard. My wrist hurts.

Anyway, onto my guitar. The whammy stopped working on some notes. It was only working at select times. I tried the simple rubberband fix, but that didn't work. So knowing that there was a problem and I could return to Red Octane, I opened it up and tried to adjust that potentiometer or whatever it's called. Unfortunely the screws holding it into place were glued up like CRAZY. After stripping one of the screws I felt like I was in trouble. I got the other one loosened and tried to rotate the thing clockwise and did it just a bit. Tightened everything back up, tested it out and it works like a charm now. I even took out my glue gun to glue everything back into place so it wouldn't move around anymore.

So far, no trouble since the adjustment. I'm holding onto my box for a while though, in case I need to ship back to RO.

Good luck to everyone else.

The question is - how many people have the PS2 and 360 guitars, and can tell that their 360 guitar is defective? I have both, and it's obvious that the whammy bar doesn't work like the PS2 one does. If you *just* have a 360 guitar, you simply have nothing to compare it too, so please stop clogging up these threads with 'my guitar works fine' and let the people who have a basis for comparison sort this out.

Just got the game and it came with an 065 controller. Whammy bar response is intermittent and star power fires at the slightest tilt upward. Sour.

I'm not sure which guitar I had, but the whammy bar worked fine for a week, and then it just became unresponsive, and I'd have to pull up on it a bit and then back down. Needless to say, I'm exchanging this one at Best Buy today.

RedOctane is refusing to handle this problem internally, instead demanding those who made refund/exchange requests to go to the original retailer.

"Hi Jackson,
We wanted to let you know that we could not process your request due to the following reason:
Exchanges within 30 days for retail purchases will be provided only by the original retail location. Please see the retailer and your purchase receipt for more information."

Notwithstanding the inherent difficulties of returning merchandise to online retailers, why would any sensible consumer return one defective product for another product that is likely to be defective? If the problem is as widespread as is depicted, I would much rather RedOctane handle my return themselves. If I request RedOctane to do so, aren't they bound by the terms of the warranty to replace my item?

I'm getting the run around. RedOctane's QC department sucks.

I ordered my controller directly from redoctane and it is completely unresponsive. The Xbox Live button has 2 buttons lighted up directly across from each other but that is the only sign that it does anything. THe buttons dont do anything when i press them, the Xbox live button doesnt do anyhting, any advice is appriciated. Playing GH2 with a reg controller sucks!

Just bought GH2 from Costco. With a bad whammy bar. My box says 95065, and the guitar also says 95065.
The whammy only works about a third of the time. Called Activision today, and his response was that
all the guitars use the same parts and exchanging it for a different serial number would be pointless. He told me to just wait for more updates about this issue online. I am going to go back to Costco today and check for other serial numbers anyway. They must have had at least 75 of them. I will keep you all posted.

Ok, didn't have a chance to go back to Costco, so I did the DIY fix for my guitar. The five minute fix turned into an hour because one of the screws on the whammy bar adjustment was stripped out and I had to carefully remove it with some pliers. After I removed it, I replaced both screws with some new ones, adjusted it clockwise about 1/16" and plugged her back in. What a difference! It works every time now. Hopefully this fix lasts for a while. BTW, my star power has always worked perfectly.

Mine is a 55 bought it at best buy 4/19, 5/4 it stops responding properly. Ally the buttons quit working the xbox button sometimes lights up in different patterns but this really sucks. I had absolutely no idea the controllers were defective and I typically shred mt receipts after about a week. So I'm probably screwed right?
