If you already suspected that "Annex," the new Gears of War gametype, was a highfalutin name for King of the Hill, this 1UP preview and video will do very little to change your mind. But, if said preview is any indication, it could become "the definitive way to play Gears online," so who really cares what it's called? When they're not heaping on the praise for Annex, 1UP also discloses some tweaks coming with this update (like increased fire for the Lancer) and in the future (four new maps with titles like "Subway" and "Bullet Marsh").
The big question now is exactly when the free update will be available to us commoners. The 1UP piece says we can expect it this week, a hope echoed by Epic's Mark Rein yesterday. But plans have been changed before, if memory serves.
Yess now its time to feed the fire and continue going Gears of War crazy. Let the chainsaws rev, shotguns tear holes, the torque bows fly, the boomshots boom, while the other team dies. Gears of War is where its at! I'm glad to see the new game mode, it seems a lot better than the others.
What I really want is a party system like the one that's in Halo 2. GOW is currently too inconvenient to play online when you're with a group of friends.
I love Gears. Its the only game that really matters right now. Seriously though Epic please let us have our party system. We all want to get 10K with our friends on ranked matches. Come one stop the madness give us a party system!!
The nice thing would be if the company would address the elephant in the room, that being host shotgun. That is the single-worst problem with this game, followed second by a crud party system for ranked matches.
jesus christ people, gears doesnt have a party system like halo because it doesnt have a matchmaking system either. when a team of four people enters a ranked match together it completely unblances the match, firstly they will have host advantage, second they will all know each other and most likely be of reasonable quality, chances are they will all have mics aswel allowing for communication and teamwork. Normally they will face a team of complete strangers, so often the team is filled with rubbish players who dont have a mic and dont work as a team which makes it completely unfair on anyone who is a decent player stuck with a bunch of idiots up against strong opposition. if u want to play as a team go play a player match and give people the chance to freely quit if theyre in over their heads.
