Oh come on guys. This says nothing about the power of either console. It pretty much only makes a statement about how well-coded the game is. A developer could make a version of PONG melt a PS3 dev kit if he coded it badly.

I completely agree with #2... Bad news altogether actually.

Thank you Stef!

I'm getting sick of this random bashing. (by everyone) It was ok, maybe 3 months ago, but honestly it's like a broken record.

Seriously. You guys need to realize that owning this console versus that console has no effect on how much of a man you are or the quality of your character. The constant one-upping has to stop. Sometimes if feels like I'm back in grade two reading some of the comments that people write.

Come on, it's just funny. I don't think anyone is seriously saying it says anything about the system's power. If we were going to get into stuff like that I'd go straight for the "more power usage equals MORE POWER OUTPUT!" argument. Plus, the awful puns are endless.
Sigma is heating up ps3 gaming.
Sigma is smokin' the competition.
PS3; where there's smoke, there's ninjas.

The only place it says ps3 is better than 360 is in the first comment(not the article)and theguy was obviously joking!!.

So congratulations youve ruined another ninja gaiden sigma comment thread! Lectures for all and none! You win a cupcake (of the gas variety)!

I rented the Ninja Gaiden Black for Xbox. (I threw that out by the way, now own a ps3)

Its too hard. For a casual gamer like me I played it for about an hour before I got tired of losing.

I hope they have a very easy setting for this PS3 version.

So, there's no "safety zone" for these consoles? I guess we can forget playing games when the A/C is off. No 360 or PS3 for me unless it's 65nm.

What's funny is that even the Wii overheats, and occasionally kills itself. That's what happens when you cheap out on the heatsink.

C’mon #8, #2, no software can make hardware smoke like that, it’s a joke, don’t take it for real. ‘Making it smoke’ just means that they were really putting it to its limits.

If you put maximum load on the processor, it can get too hot for the cooling to cope with, if the cooling is insufficient. Given the 360’s history of cooling problems, it doesn’t seem unrealistic that a few development boxes overheated and thus ‘blew up’. However, I never heard of heating problems with the PS3, and if that happened on dev kits, the overheating would break the processors, not just generate a lot of smoke.

You see, if there’s smoke, that means something’s burning away. If the processor burns away, it’s not going to work anymore, period. And if it would burn, I don’t think there is enough material in a single processor to make smoke to cover a whole floor.

No, I think it is more likely that smoke they saw was from all the pot they smoked :).

@10. Yeah... I understand the principals of matter-energy conservation - you can't create things like smoke from nothing. But it IS completely possible for dev kits to smoke. Perhaps you don't remember, but about 7 years ago, AMD's CPUs had really wonky thermal diodes. Those thermal diodes were supposed to shut the CPU down if it got too hot. They frequently failed to work, resulting in the processor getting so hot that the PCB around it started to melt. The same thing or something similar could quite feasibly happen to a PS3 dev kit.
