Selling extra content that should have been included in the first place FTL.

Sucks game companies are going to develop games shitily (probably not a word) just because they know they can sell extra content to make it the way it should have origionally shipped.

All *10* characters? Wait...

Cyclops, Nightcrawler, Hawkeye, Hulk, Venom, Magneto, Sabertooth and Doc Doom...

That's only 8! Who're the other two?

Hey, isn't Hulk sporting something ridiculous like a 200 power rating these days in Marvel?

200? You should see how much butt he's going to kick in the upcoming World War Hulk storyline / crossover.

And be glad they didn't include The Sentry... who has the Power Of A Million Exploding SunsTM! (Really, that's his power...)

Too bad this hardly adds anything to the game. I played through it with basically the same 6-7 characters, trading out once in a while just because it seemed like I should... I guess new "content" depends on the definition of the term. This would be a cool free addition, but for monies? meh.

Why should this have been included in the first place? Dr. Doom is the main villain of the game, so I'm not sure why they would have put him in the first time (or the other 3 villains). The M: UA community wanted playable villains, so Activision answered the call and put some in, which is pretty cool. I don't mind paying extra for 8 new characters....to me, it adds a lot of life to the game (with the bonus missions and such).

They should have either been included, or, if not, they should be avaliable for free. This microtransactions stuff is bullshit.

I can't believe people let companies get away with this shit.

WHAT THE FUCK DUDE?

Seriously, could people really be this fucking stupid? MUA came out over 6 months ago and already had a pretty substantial list of playable chachters. People like you hold back the industry. Shut the fuck up and get a clue and thank the developer for keeping up work on a game that they could have left to rot... but No, we're getting 8 brand new playable characters... that's pratcially a sequal!

Gamers who have nothing better to do but complain FTL!
New Content FTW!

Except...the PC users who apparently don't get to play online to begin with. (Just check, click the play online button, go ahead. "Sorry, not available at this time...#$#$%bastards.) I'm curious to know how they'd tie up the plot holes. Well, I suppose they don't have to considering that if you have all of the characters to begin with when you go through to "unlock" the same character it just does it without regards to who is in your party..but still..

Meh.

Dude people seriously act like they are being forced to get the new content.

Its your choice. You do not need to get it if you do not want it.

Thats the first thing.

The second thing is people have asked for this so activision included it because they wanted to. they could have easy have said no and moved on.

As much as an 800 point splurge would be (I like both sets) great I feel that the Wii and PS3 gamers who were left out of this should be upset. Things that should have been in the game from the start indeed! (I mean those are pretty sweet playable additions!!)

Regardless of if it should have ben included, or a nice added extra... The extra is 800 points, and dispite I don't even own a 360, Im pretty sure the is the same as $10 right?

10 bucks for extras is a ripoff. If you're going to charge for extras, Make it like 2 bucks. 10 bucks is terrible. I know nobody is forced to buy it, but to offer it at a price that so much is stupid...

... or maybe its jsut the stupid people that buy it...

This reasoning is horribly flawed. Yes, companies can get carried away with micro-transactions. For example, when Sony originally announced that GTHD would have all the cars old separately. That's ridiculous. I also though having the different modes of Lumines Live broken into different packages was stupid.

But I don't consider this UMA content bad at all. The original game has a lot of playable characters... far more than most games out there. You claim they should have been there from the start, right? But why? How many comic book characters are out there? Should they add them all? If they stop short of adding every character they have ever created, have they failed in your opinion? If not, then why can't they add them later? No matter how long any company spends on any game, can't they ALWAYS add content later?

This is sort of like when people get upset about map packs for FPS games. Think about it, can't a company ALWAYS create more maps? Yes, they can. Even if someone released a game with 10,000 mulitplayer maps, what stops them from creating an additional map pack later? Nothing.

So where do you draw the line? At what point do you expect companies to call a game done and release it? Are they then not allow to ever release DLC for the the game? Apparently not because everytime a compny does release downloadable content there are always people who claim it should have been there in the first place. In some cases I agree, but in many cases it's simply not a reasonable postion because, as I explained above, no matter how much they put into the retail version, DLC can ALWAYS be created later.

There has been a major screwup...

The auto-patch that they released yesterday to update the achievements and make room for the new characters has completely screwed up the save games, the characters powers and the gear atributes...

Now Activision has pulled off the trailer with the new characters from their site and no DLC is available...

What a major cluster fuck!

I will agree that the price seems steep, but I don't agree that this content should have been in the original game or that it should be free. Free is nice, but it does cost money to make extra content and devs should be free to charge for it. If I don't think the price is reasonable I won't purchase it.

To be honest, I'm having problems with "extras" in general. I only like games that give 100% content up front (or have the secrets unlocked in-game).

I guess I'll never EVER be a PC gamer fanatic.

The patch didnt ruin saved files. When you update, it tells you that all saved files may LOOK corrupted if played with a non updated file.

They changed the items to have different powers, and the powers are the same if they did anything they added more bubbles to level up the powers higher.

Despite what you believe companies do not force you to spend all your money or do crazy high mark ups. Its bad for business.

$10 is probably a resonable price. Since they have to pay the programers that made the new content, the voice over actors to add the new lines for the new characters. Then theres hosting and advertisment fees. Do you really think the videos they show appear out of thin air?
No someone makes and edits them, Hey look someone else to pay.

Let alone its undetermined how many people will download these items.

So we are pretty much the company is paying these people so they need to charge so they can maybe do it again.

Corrupted save files? Now I'm extremely worried about the new content. Is there something I should do to prep my game before/after downloading the update? Would hate to lose all my file data.

I for one am happy about both the MUA and Crackdown downloads this month - it is the first paid content on the system I actually want to download. Am I upset about throwing money at what will probably be new skins? For a six-month-old game (and a few easy Gamerscore points), not so much.

Venom? Hawkeye? Sweet, I'm in. I kinda wish we got She-Hulk instead of Hulk, she could have at least filled out Avengers, New Fantastic Four AND Femme Fatale teams. Hulk is... more generic and boring. Ah well.

I'd like to see this content make it to Wii somehow.

And for people that think "this should've been included in the original," you're stupid. #18 is right. It's not like they withheld content from the original, they just made more.

Plus for Hulk not to be invincible and 300x better than the other characters doesn't make that much sense.

How do you get your saved files "updated" them so they don't look corrupted and your unlocks are saved?

As for the comments regarding the cost, etc. When M:UA was first being developed Activision didn't even have the license to use Hulk in the game. They have since obtained said rights and then proceeded to give the M:UA community what they wanted. I have no problem paying $10 for 8 new playable characters, new plot lines, new achievements, new unlocks, more powers for ALL characters, and just the warm fuzzy feeling I get from supporting the developers of my favorite games.

@28 when you update the game itself. The game has a text prompt telling you every time you save that your game "Will look corrupted when you play on a non updated game. So if you save your file to a memory card and play at someone else's place who has not updated the game it will look busted. Same goes for people that play online and choose not to do the update.

@29 my thoughts exactly. I apologize for forgetting the Hulk deal. That they had to make a deal to get the Hulk in the game. That too adds to the cost.

OVERPRICED horseshit that really should have been included to start with.

But hey, as long as there are enough stupid and naive people who must enjoy being ripped off, then the companies will be more than happy to keep it up.

Spider-Man beat the Hulk. Twice.

But yes, generally speaking HULK IS THE STRONGEST ONE THERE IS!

I'd have liked to see more obscure heroes. Falcon, Yellowjacket, Squirrel Girl, Shang-Chi, Sasquatch, Karma, Strong Guy, or Cannonball, for example.

Venom. Bleh. It's Steroid Spider-Man with a slobber problem. I never got the appeal of Venom.

I'd love to see a reject pack of "heroes" like Forbrush Man and Howard the Duck. We could take down Doom with our Quack-Fu.
