Bartering in Warcraft, trading mounts for mounts

While gold farming is running rampant through all of World of Warcraft, another type of trading altogether has appeared: sex for gold. A woman has posted a Craig's List ad, picked up by Primal Devolution, looking for 5,000 gold in order to buy her epic mount (zing).In exchange you get ... her. "I play a level 70 night elf druid and would prefer someone who was into roleplaying (I have a costume!) boy honestly anyone will do, as long long as you have the gold. I would also be ok with a woman too, as long as you have the gold!"
She wants to see a picture of your character with the gold ... oh yeah, and you have to be drug / disease free. Yikes folks, just ... yikes.

This is prostitution in a moral sense. This isn't prostitution in a legal sense because real money was not exchanged for services rendered.

Alright Todd, lets take the next step into the question: How are porn stars not prostitutes? They get paid to have sex. The only difference is, porn stars get paid to have sex on camera, and then the tape is sold to millions of viewers world wide. Is this not so?

I think it has something to do with porn stars being contracted, working with only other professional porn stars, in a controlled environment (we hope anyways), and also being taxed by their job.
I think high class call girls and prostitutes still jump from one customer to the next, not sure if they actually file W4 forms, and their environment is usually unsupervised so there's no degree of control.

Porn stars are not paid in exchange for sex. They are paid for "acting" out having sex. As long as somebody is not giving somebody money to have sex with them no crime is committed.

Todd, I question the "only professionals" stipulation, since there are plenty of "amateur" porn sites. I dunno what Girls Gone Wild does, but don't they pay the girls (even a little) for their participation in the video?
I'm not saying porn stars should be considered prostitutes, just that there is a huge inconsistency in law, that filming and selling a sexual encounter is considered free speech, but as soon as you turn the camera off its illegal.

Yes there are ALOT of BS laws on the books in the USA. Personally I think what ever happens between two consenting adults should not be an issue with the authorities.

The girls who star in the Girls Gone Wild videos could get paid, but as long as they sign a release form stating they are 18 AND give the right to show their face in the video, anything is game. The trouble arises when those supposed 18 year olds, who aren't, sign the release form and get starred. Since you're not 18, liability falls onto the GGW company since they weren't old enough to know what they were signing (yeah right).
I'm sure there is a grey legal line when it comes to people performing sexual acts. I think it comes down to forms of entertainment, rather than sexual pleasure. The professionals and amateurs are making a video and sell the video for profit. They're getting paid for their services in making the video, not for their services in getting laid. I'm sure these people are also paying taxes for their "work" and that constitutes a job, were as actual prostitutes probably don't. I'm pretty sure prostitution isn't tax deductible. ;)

Brings to mind that when undercover police are trying to bust a prostitute, they have to first record her/him actually asking sex for money. If more of them asked for money to help make a sexy video, then they probably wouldn't get arrested as much. ;)
