Bungie working on yet more Halo?

If the latest issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly is to be believed, then Bungie is preparing yet another Halo title. Before anyone can raise a disapproving finger, EGM clarifies that the game in question is neither the episodic project directed by Peter Jackson nor Halo Wars (though EGM notes Halo Wars might see release this year). Nope, this would be a completely separate title apart from Halo 3 and the aforementioned spin-offs. What in the world could it possibly be? We have no idea, and the rumor article gives no hints either. Our money is on Halo Party, which will be handled by Hudson in conjunction with Bungie. Just imagine all the mini-games: Whack-a-Grunt, Land-the-Sticky, and of course BOOM! Headshot. Hours of fun for the whole family.

Anyone else care to take a whack at what it could be?

I believe they are working on Halo: Combat Evolved (the 1st Halo game) for the XBox Live Arcade.

It'd be cool if they made some games around the Eric Nylund books. There wouldn't be spartans in them, but it could still be fun.

Or they could tell the stories of the other spartans... the fall of reach, and ghosts of onyx... either way it'd be awesome...

Halo: Tournament

Bungie has made the most competitvely played console series in history and they'll want to continue that following Halo 3. The inherent potential in a multiplayer-centric Halo game is insane.

I'm guessing it would come in the final year or two of the 360s life cycle or perhaps as a launch title on Microsoft's next console.

@3, id be pissed if that was it, i am already getting halo3, so why release a seperate multiplayer only game?

They should make a prequel. A tactical shooter in which you kill rebel insurgents like in the books.

It would be cool if they made a Halo space shooter, something like Rogue Squadron.

@3. I too would love a halo multi only game. The ammount of detail and focus they could put into it would be even greater then that of halo 3.

Halo 1 and 2 are 2 of my favorite games ever, but I absolutly hate halo single player. I think the whol story is kiddie and crap. I only love halo so much because of multiplayr. I did not even play halo 1 xbox because there was no xbox live multiplayer or big maps. just a bunch of small indoor crap. Then halo pc ame out and its when I got into the series since it had online play + 8 large outdoor maps to have fun with and use vehicles.

My money is on a persistant MMO game universe.

I think you're on the right track JimyD. A MMO Halo would definitely draw a lot of attention. It'd be tough to pull off but it could be interesting.

IMO it'd be cool if they picked up, cleaned up, and polished up that fan made sidescrolling halo game and put it on XBLA.

How about something ORIGINAL? After halo 3 and Peter Jackson and halo wars, make something new instead of limiting their creativity to HALO. But again, under microsoft, I highly doubt they can do that. Microsoft would hardly have anyone progress the way they should. But yeah pretty sad for bungie to stick onto halo. And if this is all they are ever going to do, I doubt a lot of people who are involved in making halo3 would be there after it.

I'd be stoked if it was either combat evolved (with achievements!) or Halo 2.5 with the windows live acheivements for the 360 set. Either way giving us some acheivements to earn while we rev-up for 3 would be very Bungiesque.

It is the Halo MMO which has been hinted ealier.

How about a Halo RPG? I mean it could even be eposodic! You know like a hour or so play time every month or maybe every 2 weeks. They could juice the hell out of the franchise for years to come and noone would think hard about letting go of 10 bucks a month... but in 12 months they payed 120 bucks for a 12 hour RPG... that's playing it rich!

It would be great if they did a space-based game where you could take command of ships on the three 'sides' (UNSC, Covenant, Flood) and fly about the universe winning battles etc., going down to the surface via dropships, deploy troops and air wings etc., building colonies, extracting resources etc. Like a modern-day version of the classic Elite.

What about Halo : Marathon?
