Yea, just look at it that way.. Sure it's about $2 for each song.. but you get at least two versions of it to play (Bass, rhythm, lead) those songs.. My only grip is that we're kinda at their mercy to choose which songs we want. The first pack was good, I DL that one, but the others weren't too appealing, give me QOTSA!!

To #15: you obviously don't read the download information. There is NEVER any form of refund for any download. EVER. The only way you can get a refund from MS is if they double-bill you for something (which happens far too often). You pay $6.25 a pack, you're done. Even if they drop to free later (which of course they won't), you're still out $18.75. Do not buy this overpriced shit.

I just want to re-stress that everyone should sign the online petition:

http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?GHIIDLC

It's only been up a few hours but last time I checked it had 1100 signatures already! This worked for the BioShock limited edition, if we can generate big enough numbers this can work for the GH songs too. Remember, we're not just fighting for cheaper songs now, but for all the songs they release in the future.

Also, yes they retooled the songs to be compatible with GH2's newer features (co-op, triple fret cords, HOPO adjustments) but that is a justification for buying the songs in the first place. Not for upping the price to twice what they're really worth.

Yay, more cover songs. There isnt even any achievement motivation for me to play these. You would think that if we paid this kind of price, we should get the originals.

Im already pi**ed I feel like I got a $30 game with my $60 guitar. I hope they go back to making a new Frequency/Amplitude. I liked the music better and it didnt cost me an arm and a leg to buy it.

I must admit I was psyched for the songs comming to the market place, but now, not so much. Theres no way in hell am I going to pay another $100 for songs just after I payed $100 for the game. I can take the 100 buy a secondhand ps2 and gh1, which at this point is seeming pretty damn tempting. As of late MS have been a pretty damn greedy bunch.

I'm a huge fan of the game and want these songs badly, but there's no way that I'm going to pay this much for these songs. I hope you other fanboys all speak with your wallets.

I'll buy these, am I the only one? I mean honestly those are the only songs from the Original game that I REALLY want. Ok, I'd also buy the pack with More than a Feeling, but that's just my song. Yeah!

Nah you're not the only one.. I bought the first pack. The price isn't too bad considering you get the updated song version that you can do co-op, etc with.. and they're not making you buy like 10 or 15 songs at a time or anything.. I'm just glad there is a choice here.

It is an obscene price...I seem to remember them saying that songs would be priced comparably to other d/l services...what service charges 2 bucks a song?

Joystiq/360fanboy, please post that petition on the main page. these blogs are a large part of the gamer community, and surely you must agree that these prices are insane. the packs dont even make it better, if u dont like one song, its 250 pts a song, and if u only wanted incubus, then it costs you 500 ms points for just one song! and 500 for 3 points in disgusting enough already, how can all of the songs equate to more than the original price of guitar hero for the ps2? this is absolute crap, ive been waiting for these songs to come out for a while now and im still not going to buy them, my 360 that ive loved for so long has really let me down. its a small issue but it is a huge principle, i cant believe it.

I won't be picking up any of the packs until i find songs I like. I want more Lamb of God (With a good cover, please. Laid to rest was horrible.), Killswitch Engage, Nothingface, All that remains, and other such new-metal artists.

wow, I really wanted to buy Higher Ground, but for no way. I was expecting the reasonable price of 99 cents each, you know, what it would cost on somewhere like itunes- where you could put it on your ipod or burn it onto a cd or whatever. This price is simply ridiculous, the whole 9 songs for 500 MS points sound reasonable, but this? Do yourself a favor and send MS and RedOctane a message, DONT BUY THIS, as much as you may want to, don't. Just go play Freebird instead.

And I thought $90 just for this game was expensive.....

Microsoft needs to realize that gamers are fickle people. As soon as they feel they're being taken advantage of they will turn on companies they've supported for years. Sony is feeling that wrath now. If Microsoft doesn't shape up, we'll take them down. We don't even have to do anything. Buy nothing and it'll hurt them.

These songs should be so cheap that people buy them on impulse. They should be so reasonable that everyone with GHII and a live account would be looked at strangely if they didn't buy them.

C'mon Microsoft, just make us happy. You can do that AND make money, yunno.

I was kind of hoping that it would be around 30 bucks for the ENTIRE batch of original Guitar Hero songs. This price scheme is obviously quite out of whack with that theory.

A typical map pack with new game modes runs 800 points, and Castlevania: SOTN is also 800 points, and I believe things like that are fair values. Those ten dollars buy a good deal of game for your buck. How long does it take to blow through three songs? Not nearly as long.

Also, I don't believe the comparison with iTunes downloads is valid, because we're not buying someone's intellectual property to listen to whenever we'd like, we're specifically paying for a set of songs that can only be played in the context of a game. We're not paying to have the song, we're paying for use of it for very limited gameplay purposes.

1. Online Petitions don't work. They only worked for Bioshock because they asked the fans if they wanted it.

2. LET YOUR WALLET SPEAK. I was a huge LoTR:BFMEII fan and they released a map pack for way too much money and, from what I understand, very few people bought it. Shortly after the price was cut in half.

What happened to Bungie's model of "Free if you can wait"???

hi from the uk,

just my 2 cents worth,

it is bloody extortionate to be honest, and as everybody here as said, do not buy.

iam still smarting from the bloody £70 i have to try and justify to the mrs for a "plastic guitar" as she calls it.

but what a kick in the nuts to hear these kind of prices for DLC,especially when it was one if if not there biggest selling point of the game its self.

if indeed it is as i suspect just the big MS milking every last dime out of the world, then what i would do if i was the producers.....just say F..you MS no more content unless you put the stupid prices down.

and iam sorry, maybe iam being a bit naive here, but ffs isn't £40 a year, AND £70 for the dam game enough to warrant extra content free......jesus its only been days since release........its not good customer service, anyway you slice it....

me for one just hope folks DON'T buy it and give a big finger to the big wigs, and MAKE them drop these ridiculous prices.

wow, i was expecting a price half that. well, i guess that's supply and demand at work. people are going crazy for this game, so they thought people would pay this kind of money for 3 extra songs..... and you know they will. unluckily for me, my free points card is useless. i scratched off some of the numbers and it's illegible. now i have to find a way to decipher it (with no help from MS's crappy customer support, lol).

I bought the pack with Killer Queen and ever since my game hasnt been working right. when i try to go to the store to buy new songs or characters, it freezes and says it can't read the disc. and the thing that pisses me off the most is that it wont let me play Killer Queen. I sent an email to micrsoft and im waiting for a respond. my disc is great looking, so its not a smudge or scratch.

Nobody should buy the songs at that price... We shouldn't have to pay at all. We pay for Xbox live. This is a no labor product that they are trying to make 100% profit off of. Don't buy!
