Make that Apple TV a gaming emulation station
AwkwardTV has a page set up listing some emulators that work with the Apple TV writing, "These emulators are being tested with standard ROM's on the AppleTV running the original OS except for being slightly modified to add SSH." Is anyone tired enough of waiting for Apple's inevitable game offerings to upgrade their Apple TV themself?

it seems everything can be turned into an emulator these days. I wouldn't still have an original XBOX laying around if it weren't for the ability to do this kind of stuff.

Laptop + S Video cable + TV + controller + headphone to RCA cable = Emulator.
I play tons of NES, SNES, Sega, yadda yadda games right on ym 52" TV.
Of course, I own all those games already....

I keep telling people, Apple already failed down the game console route before.

I play all my gb/gbc/nes/snes/sms/genesis/cps2/neogeocd/psx/psp games on my psp. I don't own a single one of them (except for Suikoden, which I do own. Suikoden on the go = awesome).

that being said, I've still spent over a hundred dollars on VC points.

People will do anything to make it seem like the 300 dollar price tag for the AppleTV isn't insanely high (like all apple products) "Look, it plays Xvid and H.264, also Mario Bros!!" know what else does that? My desktop, my laptop (plugged into TV, controlled via wireless KVM) and soon, the PS3 (with Linux loaded), and soon the Xbox 360 (though details are a little shady on the 360's H.264 and MPEG4 support).
The Apple TV is another example of how Apple prices themselves into being a boutique, when if they would just sell their wares for what they should actually cost (without paying insane premiums for the apple name and logo) then they would be more of a competitor. I feel bad for Slingbox, they are basically going to bite the farm since the AppleTV does the same thing anyway.
