In his response to criticism over the clip, Boll self-righteously calls his film a "necessary wake-up call" and compares it to Monty Python's masterpiece, Life of Brian. That's right, a movie based on an utterly boring video game is in the same league as one of the greatest comedy touchstones in history.
To call Boll a "bloviating hack" is to insult the English language by referring to him with words and not a series of guttural grunts, obscene gestures, and bodily excretions. But excretions don't really come across that well in a blog. Maybe this "Web 2.0" we keep hearing about will remedy that.

I think that may be one of the best paragraphs I've ever seen on Joystiq. Very well done Tony. And I agree wholeheartedly. But you better watch out, Boll might show up at your house and beat you up.

I just hope the backlash for this lands on his scrubby shoulders and not on the shoulders of the game industry... I would think that since it is a movie it would not land on games, but I have been wrong in the past.

Is there anyway we could just do the same for Boll? He's a terrible director and an utter moron, we get it. There's really not much more that can be done to prove that point if there's still some person out there in the world that doesn't get it (Boll not included).

That aside, the terrorism gags seem fine to me. I think we're ready. And the gags make the terrorists out to be bumbling fools. I think we're ready for that, too. I knew people lost in 9/11 and had friends barely make it out of the towers. I still feel ready.
But I am likely a bad barometer. I am a Yankees fan that was making Cory Lidle jokes before his death was confirmed. I think all tragedy is densely filled with comedy.

I'm afraid jokes in poor taste exist boys and girls, many of which will be a bit too close to the knuckle, and some which will go right past and stop somewhere near your elbow.
Try not to loose too much sleep over them, and in particular this, because getting worked up only perpetuates the Bolls, Thompsons and other such asshats of this world.

However, the moment we start labeling things as 'sacred' is the same moment where we start censoring.
Then the question begs, who has the right to determine what is in poor taste?
These types of blatant shock-value advertising serve a necessary purpose which helps us define our moral limits. At the same time reminding us the cost of these freedoms, some of these costs are the subjection to poor taste ads like this...

Also, he signs that response "Dr. Uwe Boll", which I find completely ridiculous. I know you can get your GED through the mail, but a doctorate? Please.

I think the jokes in the movie are pathetic, but NOONE should find them offensive. for fucks sake grow up and look around you. 9/11 was one of the SMALLEST disasters in the modern world. get over it. nore people die in the middle east a month than in 9/11.
that said the movie is going to be horse SHIT. crap director, crap film, crap franchise tbh

But heh, this man cannot be forgiven for how uttery shocking they made House of the Dead in movie form, hell, it made the Resident Evil films look watchable. But this guy is pretty much an egoistic film director (was the egoistic really needed?) backing his ego more than his work.

The answer is clearly no? So I guess you've seen this movie? Good job talking out of your ass.
To be honest, his movie is definitely a wake-up call. We've been suffering through cookie-cutter comedies for years now where no one wants to make that movie that may offend someone. Scary Movie, Teen Movie, Date Movie, Epic Movie... Will Ferrell as a NASCAR driver! Will Ferrell as an ice skater! Will Ferrell as a basketball player! STOP IT, ALREADY! Thank god for silly foreigners to do something different.

He's may very well be the first man in history to make something so bad, it goes past the wrap around to good, back to god awful, and then wraps around to good yet again, this time staying there. The world is a strange place, it's better that way.
Also 9/11 wasn't a disaster, it was a fairly blatant attack on western civilization. By the way, Boll has claimed Postal is being funded by Nazi Gold, this teaser is the least of your worries, PC crowd.

Boohoo. Planes, building. Whoopity doo. They're dead. Maybe while we have a huge fit of patriotism over a joke (funny or otherwise), we can send another 20,000 (currently living) people to get picked off one at a time in an ongoing tragedy that we're allowing our president to carry out. YAY!
Given, I hate Uwe Boll. His shit sucks. But using an unfortunate event as a pivot to call for the stifling of jokes we don't like flies in the face of everything we're fighting for as gamers to begin with. It's all or nothing people. If games can't be legislated, then we can't go condemning jokes we don't agree with. Next thing you know it'll be taboo to make black jokes. Oh wait.

I know his movies do well enough on domestic DVD and outside of the US, so shame on all you people who actually keep this guy working.
And to John James: Have YOU seen the movie? No? Then how do you know it is actually a wake up call? It will only be a wake up call if it's actually any good. I couldn't care less about the violent content or pokes at 911, but I can tell you that with Uwe's track record, it's gonna suck shit. Do you really think he's gonna go from his routine hackish crap to making an actual film that will start an intelligent dialogue about the problems in this world?
Again, I couldn't care less if his movies are politically uncorrect. We could use a little more political uncorrectness right now. But I guarantee you this movie will be unwatchable. Hell, if Postal gets anything over 30% on Rotten Tomatoes, maybe I'll climb into the ring with his sorry ass.

Was it over the top and ridiculous and stupid? Yes it was, and that was the damn point.

All Uwe did was guarantee no theatrical distribution in the US. So I guess there was some positive benefit.

Now, I'll admit this is handled far worse than the South Park episode (as a sight gag like that is not going to draw many laughs from the crowd), but still...Boll isn't the first.

But.
Why is everyone mad at him for poking fun at 9/11?
Boo-fucking-hoo.
A plane crashed into some buildings.
Suck it the fuck up.
There's been so much drama and sadness around 9/11, along with all the FEAR the government puts into your head.
There NEEDS to be a little laughing around here.
I.
Will see Postal; just as I see any other of Uwe's nasty creations.
Will I laugh?
Maybe.
Will I want to kill Boll after the movie ends?
Most likely.

Just because an event had less deaths than another doesn't mean it isn't a tragedy.
Let me know how close you guys were to 9/11? Well I was close enough to actually see the smoke in the sky, floating away. I was less than 30 minutes from Manhattan that day. My father went to 9/11 to save people and clear wreckage. Why don't you go to him and tell him 9/11 wasn't a tragedy?
Or how about Columbine.. was that not a tragedy? Get over yourselves.
We don't need these kinds of movies, he's obviously just doing it for stupid shock value. Someone needs to push this guy out of a building.

A roomful of people who lost someone in the WTC, with Boll presenting them this little trailer for his crapfest.
You could make money selling the DVD!

The trailer was interesting. Not funny, just cheap, messed up, and demented.
Anyone getting outraged over it is just playing into Uwe Boll's marketing strategy. Be calm and secure enough to say its a cheap gimmick and forget you ever saw it.
