Shivering Isles patched for PC, no info on Xbox 360 version
Bethesda has released an official beta patch to fix the guard script bug in the Oblivion expansion Shivering Isles. Unfortunately, the patch is not compatible with copies purchased via direct2drive. At least there's still makeshift solutions available from the community. Other major issues, including uninstallation problems, have been resolved; patch notes can be found here.Speaking to Joystiq, Bethesda VP of PR and Marketing Pete Hines told us that there is no information that he can give us on what they'll be doing on the Xbox 360 and when. It's not the best response we could hope for, but it's all we have for now. Stay tuned.

I think you are missing a "what"...

I have contacted "bethesda" regarding its buggy and (very expensive) expansion and have been completely ignored- they havn't even had the manners to contact me about what they are doing to fix the XBOX 360 version of this apparently bug-ridden piece of software that has been sold to me and is apparently not fit for use. If I had known this was bug-ridden I would never have purchased it and I will avoid this company like the plague from now on as if they cant even be bothered to give Joystiq any info to pass on to its readers and it cant be bothered to respond to customers mail- then I will not be bothered to buy anything from this company again, and I would advise people not to purchase this shivering isles expansion until they fix it and make it fit for use. Where is microsofts quality control in all this I feel like I have been robbed - because ideally I would like to have a full refund. And I am furious now that they wont even tell us when this is going to be fixed they are treating their customers like dirt.

Carl: I've got 2 words for you:
Horse. Armor.
carl @ Apr 12th 2007 3:15AM
Yeah Nushio youre right- I am just kicking myself for dealing with this company (BETHESDA) despite its reputation for shameless "horse armour" type rip-offs, and buggy software- Oh well I have learned a lesson now and I will never trust any software from this arrogant company again that cant even be bothered to have the manners to inform people who have given them their hard earned cash for goods that are unfit for the purpose for which they have been sold what they intend to do to fix the problems. Their PR department sucks as bad as their game testers department and that sucks pretty bad!

carl, after 50 or so e-mails come in, they're not going to keep on responding once the 500th shows up in the inbox. And you'll never get a refund. You paid with Microsoft Points and that scam of a system lays it out plain and clear that you're shit outta luck once those points get deducted. That's the one massive flaw of this new digital distribution pipe dream.
Nice to see yet another console variant taking the back seat. PC games get a handful of patches while the 360 version is basically ignored as long as possiblem if not forever. There's still quest killing bugs present from day one that were patched on the PC and still left critical on the 360. I can't count how many quests I've had borked (Hunter's Run, stealing the item from the lady's nightstand, etc.). The first few times were crippling, but after that I resorted to the halfassed duct-tape solution of multiple saves.

wow whats shoved up all you asses? maybe their too busy fixing the problem to give more detail because they don't want this to happen! i know that some of the stuff they release is crap like horse armor and expensive stuff like SI and the fact that when i exchanged my 360: i have to be online to use the expansion even though its the same account! but at least their trying unlike some companys that sell you crap and don't give a damn about who buys or uses it. so please no damn trolling. thank you
Baby21 @ Apr 12th 2007 5:50AM
ouch! like Dead Rising, there is no patch for SDTV with text problem.
I bet it will be forever unfix.
Rob Accomando @ Apr 12th 2007 7:53AM
if there ever is a patch, it will cost 1000 points
Dave @ Apr 12th 2007 8:51AM
Well, I can certainly understand people being upset--but I seriously doubt Bethesda plans to ignore 360 owners. If the bug is already fixed in the PC version, it's probably already fixed in the 360 version as well. They're probably trying to get as many bugs fixed as possible in a single patch and negotiating with Microsoft on distribution time and method.

Tomorrow marks the one-month anniversary of the day my 2nd XBox 360 shat out on me. They tell me my new unit should be arriving shortly... This is one of the downloads I missed then. I guess I'm glad I didn't screw up my game. I'd have played that 150 hours already.
rfom @ Apr 12th 2007 9:24AM
no surprise...why should Bethesda bother about bugs on the 360...if its owners are willing to put up with such a defective console in the first place, dont expect anything better from software providers.
Its obviously different for PC - if they had the same defect rate, the PC maker would be out of business...thats why Bethesda WILL bother about them.
Its the same with USD6 song packs for GH - after all the 360 owners claim they are "happy" to pay USD50 for multiplayer, they dont mind a USD180 hard disc or USD30 for a 64MB card - since they are so generous, everybody wants some of their cash.
And the worst thing is that with the 360 having the lead, this will increasingly become standard for ALL consoles. Bugs, patches and overcharging for content are not new - but notice how much more common these are since the 360 came out?

Obligatory comment on pirates wore patches for night vision. In every patch related post I'm going to put this in.

@11 rfom
More pointless crap. Just STFU already. Why are you trying to tie the 360's hardware issues to Bethesda's lack of comments about a fix for the 360 version of Oblivion? The two aren't even remotely related. Plenty of 360 games have received updates, this is an issue with Bethesda. All that was said here is that the marketing guys couldn't provide any details about a patch for the 360... that's it. It doesn't mean they aren't working on one.
And where the fvck do you get the idea that 360 gamers are happy about a $180 hard drive and the GH song packs? Last I checked most people were upset about that pricing. And until Sony's online service is as good as Live, your comment about the $50 Live fee is totally meaningless.

You all have the patience of a tsetse fly. What are you guys- TWELVE YEARS OLD? It takes TIME to make a patch for a console game. The bug only came to light about a week ago, and you expect it to be fixed already?!?! This from a bunch of slackers who probably give meaning to the word "procrastination"???
Shut the hell up, you losers. They're working on it. The don't owe every frenzied, impatient brat that calls them an "explanation" or a refund.
Up the Ritalin dosage, dorks.
