Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia demo on XBL
You probably didn't go to bed praying for this news, but we're going to tell you anyway -- there's a demo for Monster Madness: Battle for Suburbia available to Gold subscribers on Xbox Live Marketplace. No, the demo's invitation to "experience frantic cooperative game play" as "four players can team up on one Xbox 360 to slash, shoot, and drive through a menagerie of monsters" may not blow your skirt up, but hey, if it does, let it never be said that Joystiq doesn't have your best interests at heart.
Also, it's free and 435 MB, so what harm could it do to download it, give it a spin, then comment here with your thoughts? Oh, us? No, no, we won't be doing that. We'd love to, but we're, uhh ... still absorbing the Shrek the Third demo. Yeah, that's the ticket.

This appeared sometime yesterday. I saw it last night and queued the download, but wasn't online very long and haven't had a chance to play it yet. I hope this game is good.

Yet another truly lackluster Xbox live game. I haven't played it yet, and I will try it, but with GRAW2 in my console and something called the internet, who has the time to play all of these mediocre titles? Oh yeah, kids, guys who live in mom's basement, and gamerscore whores.

Its not bad but its no loaded on the ps1.

What are you ranting about? You call it "truly lackluster" and then proceed to admit you have never played it. Maybe it won't be great, but maybe it will. I think you may have to be a fan of this type of game though... you'll have to excuse it for not being another FPS.

Hardly a showcase title for being the second UE3 powered game to hit the market. Having said that, I wouldn't pay $60 for the game, but once it's $20, I'm all over it.

It's also not an Xbox Live game you tool. I'm not suprised you can't get off you lazy ass to change the disc in the console.

Is this going to end up being full price, or can we expect it to be a "value" title like Table Tennis or EDF?
For $40 I wouldn't mind having another 4 player game I can play with my friends, when the R6 T-Hunts become too mind-numbing.

Sucks, period, end of discussion.

Thanks for the deep insight.

Just in time to rub it in now that my 2nd 360 has bricked itself and I'm out of warranty. GREAT.
KilgoreTrout XL @ Apr 13th 2007 11:57AM
I read of lot of comments on this site by gamers who clearly have never played the game they're whining about, but bitching about the game and then admitting that you've never played it is a first.
I thought it was fun. Not exactly groundbreaking, but a good time nonetheless. Get four people on the same 360 and I bet it'll be a hell of a lot better, too.

Is it anything like Zombies ate my Neighbours like it was compared to months ago?

@ sheppy, roboblitz uses ue3.
I'll download the demo. I'm always for multiplayer on 1 console games.

remove the x-clamps from the heatsinks. That will fix the red ring of death.
dead_ox @ Apr 13th 2007 12:21PM
controls take a little while to get used to, weapon-whacking/shooting a little sluggish, but with so many different modes, this might be worth a good, I dunno...$30 purchase? not $60, though
andres @ Apr 13th 2007 12:28PM
I did not like the demo. Ive been waiting for this since I'm a huge zombie nut.
The turning was to slow and akwards at time. The house I started in was too constricting. I could only go in 4 rooms and yet most of the stuff blocked my view. I kept on getting hit by the fire place when I did not know it was there.
The Weapon selection is rather eh. There are things on the ground that you pick up but no mention of what they do. Are they ammo, Health what are they?
I had it set to thriller but it felt to be too hard for a normal setting.
The HUD (heads up display) was too small on my 37 inch HD tv. Again no explanation on what is what. I had no idea how much health / ammo I had till it was too late.
However with the negatives out of the way. The models looked nice, the voices were ok. However if this is a bargain game I'll just rent it.
Honestly it felt more like an Xbox Live Arcade game then a regular disc game.

I wanted to like this game. I'm very much interested in the cheezy horror motif. Unfortunately the game just doesn't deliver. Fun in 10 minute bursts but gets boring pretty quickly. Just not enough there.
Plaid Ninja @ Apr 13th 2007 2:22PM
Remove the x-clamps from the heatsinks. Hmm, I'll have to look into it. Its not like I've got a warranty to void now :) Thanks!
thordis @ Apr 13th 2007 3:07PM
YES! I have been waiting for this game since it was announced! *races to turn on sexbox*
thordis @ Apr 13th 2007 3:07PM
also @Dan You haven't played the game and you call it lackluster? Frankly I played GRAW2 for all of about 2 minutes before turning it off out of boredom. Am I the only one who got bored of FPS's somewhere between Goldeneye and UT?

It isn't the second UE3 powered game to hit the market.
These games already use UE3:
Gears of War
Rainbow Six: Vegas
