Twilight Princess models ripped, enhanced, put in strange poses
Forum members at Facepunch Studios have ripped almost 50 3D models from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, cleaned them up, and released them for the world to play with. It didn't take long before images of Link and Ila "sittin' in a tree" appeared. Surprisingly, the images so far have been SFW. If you have your own 2D and 3D manipulation software (3D Studio Max, for example), you can grab the meshes yourself and make your own magic. Fortunately the Epona model has yet to be ripped. We can't wait to see the, uh, "creative" scenes that will bring.

Man on Horse love is completely natural. Work on your maturity levels please, everyone doesn't have the same sexual preferences as you.

I see those shots and think one thing instantly....
Dude, check your geometry. Intersecting geometry in stills is NOT acceptable...

Rats, #14, you just beat me to it.
Internet, you break my heart.

I wonder how Nintendo will react to this... when fan made movies start popping up on youtube or something.
ssuk @ Apr 13th 2007 12:01PM
Actually, it was easier than hell to rip models from TLP as they used the same old model format Nintendo has been using since Mario Sunshine. Why it's taken so long for these to be fine tuned and released I'll never know... Though, I suppose you could have ripped them yourself anyway so...
sheppy @ Apr 13th 2007 12:27PM
ssuk,
got any links on how to rip models from Gamecube games, then? I was curious about this since it would be fun to do an over the top style battle between Talim and Nightmare.
FierceDeityLink1 @ Apr 13th 2007 12:44PM
AFAIK, ripping the models is not a processor (at its current state) of extracting them from the game files. Rather, they capture the scene as DirectX (IIRC) is rendering it with a magical program that spits out a model. Pretty nifty if you ask me.
Mystic @ Apr 13th 2007 12:48PM
Wow, can you imagine if Nintendo would have made the Wii's graphics more like the 360s? I still love Nintendo games, but this eye candy would be nice to have with them one of these days.

Would make sense. It seeks the data being references and spits it out. Nice. Linkage? My computer is down right now but I can imagine having some fun with this.

Wouldn't be that hard to make a super high poly Link from this source material. Selectively add edge loops, motify the texture, add in more advanced geometry, take it into Zbrush to add some normal mapping to the clothe and hair, easy peazy.
Shadow Hog @ Apr 13th 2007 1:45PM
It wouldn't be DirectX, though, since that's Microsoft's thing.
So does this mean Zelda models in Garry's Mod? Because I'd be interested in that.
kip @ Apr 13th 2007 2:23PM
I don't see any models from the end of the game ripped... zelda, ganon, ganondorf, and of course midna's final form...
Erarg @ Apr 13th 2007 2:37PM
@23: Probably, if someone can convert the models, ragdoll them, and stuff like that.
@24: I looked around and found some .3ds models for download and editing, it has almost every character ;)
Shapyi @ Apr 13th 2007 2:38PM
Isn't this illegal? I think it violates copyright law to reverse engineer a piece of software and release those copyrighted material on the Internet.

gam3r3OOO @ Apr 13th 2007 9:56PM
Is there anyone who has been able to see the files in the .rar file yet? I installed the latest WinRaR and its useless for opening these. Oh well... I so was about to do some 3DSMax editing but...all is lost.
gam3r3OOO @ Apr 13th 2007 10:29PM
I checked the links the .rar files are just html files changed to .rar (!@#$@!) Some people are so immature.
Nicolas Redfern @ Apr 14th 2007 5:21AM
BTW, in case anyone doesn't have 3ds max (it costs money!), you can import the models into Blender (its free!). Remember to turn textures on, to see them in glorious technicolour.
