Playing through Super Paper Mario has been a blast so far, but we've found little in the game to challenge even our embarrassing skills. Falling into a pit garners a slap on the HP wrist, enemies fall over if you just look at them funny, and bosses are a beat-on-the-first-try affair. There haven't been many moments where we've felt that our heroes were in mortal danger. This is a stark contrast to our gaming days on the NES when disarming underwater bombs in TMNT was a near-impossible feat and Zelda II: The Adventure of Link's horse-headed knights were the bane of our existence. Just making it past stage 6-2 of Ninja Gaiden was an effort that drove some to madness.
Do you often find yourself wishing for a few more life-threatening moments or throw-your-controller-at-the-tv frustrations when playing Super Paper Mario? Is it for the best that Nintendo designed the title to be as accessible as possible? Has "easy gaming" been a distressing trend that you've noticed with many Wii releases?
