Sega picks up rights to Hulk, Captain America, Thor
17
A limited number of the Avengers assemble! It may lack the punch of the standard battle cry, but it seems to be the one on Sega's lips as they add The Hulk, Thor and Captain America to their character roster. What unites these three characters? Are there a handful of designers at Sega with a bold vision to bring these favorites to life on consoles ... or could it be that all three are the subject of forthcoming blockbuster films? Well, Reuters says that Sega's already got a team on The Hulk in anticipation of the June 2008 film starring Edward Norton, if that helps narrow it down.
Sega is already creating an Iron Man game internally for consoles in conjunction with the Robert Downy Jr. flick due out next year and Reuters reports that the game is being made "using next-generation technology," so it should be an instant classic. We're anxious to see what Sega does with the heroes, but allow us to make one small suggestion: Wiimote + Thor's hammer = funtastic. That's all we're saying.

I thought H.A.M.M.E.R. would be the first hammer wielding game on Wii. Maybe it'll be Mario Sonic and the Avengers at the Beijing Olympics. I wonder what their next version of it would be. Similar to the Punch Out not featuring Mike Tyson.

Neat. How about an action-RPG with those 4 characters ala Marvel Ultimate Alliance except with more variety to the move-sets as there are only 4 characters to focus on. They could title it "The only 4 Avengers anyone ever cared about"

I thought they killed off the Captain America character.

Its cool that sega got the rights to these characters, but i rele wish capcom gets the rights to all the marvel characters again and makes a Marvel vs. Capcom 3 for all the consoles because 1 and 2 were awesome.

Yep, nothing says "Best Game Evar" like shiny tech and a movie license. Instant classic my ascot.

Civil War turned everything to shit. Does anyone even like Iron Man anymore? Him and Reed are the biggest pricks in the MU right now, everyone's waiting for Hulk to come home and hopefully slaughter them.
If somebody that isn't Sega could please pick up the Nextwave license and make a great game out of it (not hard, the comic is about blowing stuff up and taking all your stuff), I will love you forever.

Captain America is dead and he ain't coming back *however* that doesn't discount a new captain america taking up the mantle. I heard on the internet (so it must be true) that the Punisher might take up the captain america name. (an overly violent gun-toting captain america? How novel!) even if this is temporary, then it is almost a certainty that a new cap will appear. so a game featuring this new cap, or simply an alternate or older version doesn't seem to out there.
An Iron Man game intruiges me, since the armour is at this stage like an impregnable fortress that can destroy any living thing in an eight mile radius without hardly moving, then they will probably have to depower him. But still, Iron Man is an old favourite of mine (despite the recent...unpleasantness)on the wii, I can just picture using the wiimote as a targetting device. to lock on the various weapons of mass armegeddon hidded in the suit's little finger. and flying with the wiimote and/or sixaxis could be fun indeed.
And as for Thor...Me likey hammer.I like it lots.
...wow that was a bit geeky there...I'd better go and...watch sports or something to even it out.

Jason Todd came back to life after Superboy Prime went emo and punched the walls of reality.
Steve Rogers is coming back, no one stays dead except maybe Uncle Ben, but you can expect Reed to clone him sometime soon, he's cloning everyone right now.

...how lame was that! he just took off his helmet underwater! I mean really...
Also now that I remember it, do you know what would be really awesome? A hulk game with 100% destructable enviroments. I think the PS3/360 could harness some of that often misused processing power wasted on prettying up games, and use it to accurately calculate the effect of the hulk's fist slamming through a wall, what would it do to the rest of the building, how would it collapse. what would happen to a building after a car was thrown through it? these are the important questions in life people. this is the kind of realism I crave, not graphical realism, physical realism.

Sega hasn't made a good game in a very long time. I'm worried.

To all those worried, just chill. The technology involved is "next-generation" so the game cannot possibly fail. Do you even know what "next-generation" means? It means instant classic.
