So the demo is focusing on the one thing that made the first game a no deal for me: the actual racing part. This is good to hear. Since I don't own a PS3 and don't see myself getting one for quite some time I just hope this game can finally best GT4 in the racing area. The first Forza was easily the best racing game available for the Xbox and I really wanted to like it but in the driving department it felt on par with GT2 to me. I really hope that this game is better in that regard and I guess I will find out just as soon as they ship the demo.

"did you know that the average review score for Forza 1 was higher than gran turismo 4 on the top 5 (most viewed) game review websites?"

Why don't we take a look at the gt3 reviews, as that was the 'first' GT game for the ps2, thus it had more hype to it than Gran Turismo 4 did. Also the lack of online was a huge disappointment.

What im trying to point out that, when a system get's its first major title in a give franchise, its GUARANTEED to have lots of hype around it, especially if it put against the top title in the genre.

Remember Halo?

Anyways back to Forza. Forza was the xbox's "answer" to Gran Turismo. Thats hype generator number one. Comparing it to Gran Turismo, an already stellar, acclaimed, genre defining game, makes Forza SEEM that much better than it really is.

Also it was the FIRST simulation game for the Xbox, at the time. Hype generator number 2.

Then the features of how much 'more' it offered like customizable cars, car damage etc..hype generator number 3. hype hype hype.

Now im not saying Forza was NOT a good game. yes it was a good game. I still think PGR is more suitable to be compared to Gran Turismo, as TO ME Forza kinda sucked. It looked TOO much like it was trying to beat Gran Turismo and failed in the ONE area that Gran Turismo beats the competition: the driving. Its like they added car damage and customization to make up for that, because the thing is Gran Turismo has NEVER been about body modifications or car damage, it was always about the driving. Polyphony even stated that again and again, yet xbots always were "it doesnt even have car damage' Learn to drive.

Anywhoo i like the PGR series much better because they have a sense of 'style' that differentiates themselves from Gran Turismo. When you look at PGR you KNOW its PGR, just like when you play Gran Turismo, you KNOW its gran turismo, and Forza, is like, is that Gran Turismo???

my 2 cents

If Microsoft is smart, they'll satrt bundling this with the force feedback wheel - forget PGR3.

Should be a no brainer.

But they have to keep the price excatly where it is now. Even lower it a couple of bucks - it's been out a while now.

jojo29, the driving was better in gt4 for you because you've never driven a real car. lol. Look at the popular science article on forza vs. reality. They had 2 race car drivers race around 10-20 cars in forza on either road atlanta or laguna seca and then in real life, back to back. Their lap times were within a second of the real life counterparts. The drivers mentioned that they could go a little harder in forza, since there is no fear of killing yourself.

I have an integra. It handles the exact same in real life as it does in forza. My brother has a talon tsi, it handles the exact same way it does in real life. My dad has a 3.2cl-s, it handles the exact same way it does in forza.

In forza, you look on the internet for how real people tuned their real cars for specific tracks, and it works perfectly, if you know how to drive and the person came up with good settings.

My uncle has raced some of the cars in forza in real life at road america, he said it was dead on.

My friend used to race a miata at places like road america, road atlanta and he said driving the miata in forza with about the same mods (weight reduction, roll cage, intake, exhause, etc) felt the exact same.
In forza 2.
They made it even more realistic.
Every actual race car driver that has played it has said it felt just like real life. Ferrari's team loved it. On their first try, everyone who has actually raced a real car killed everyone who hadn't when they were letting the public play it.
They've had other drivers say they want to use it to practice tracks.

If according to race car drivers it is basically like real life, minus the g-forces and 360 degree field of view, I'll take their word over yours.

Polyphony wants to add damage to gt5 but said they would need to remake everything to accomodate it and it would be really, really, really hard.

the gt games have always been simplified. Even the creator (no I don't remember his name) said that they would rather it be fun than completely authentic. Also, try doing a brakestand in gt.

jojo29,

Forza has more realistic racing. Period. A lot of people prefer the driving in it for that reason. It is a true simulation rivaled by nothing on consoles. It is okay if you enjoy the driving in GT, though. Often times less realistic can equal more fun for some people, even in a simulation game.

And I've never seen you make a pro-xbox post in my time here. You always side with the PS3 versions. Halo sucks, Gaiden sucks, Fable sucks, Gears sucks, Forza sucks...Yeah, we get it, you only like Playstation.

jojo29 is the biggest sony fanboy I saw here so far.

MS consoles just can't have good games according to jojo29.

Yes i saw jojo29 trolling every news in here lately, defending ps3. Good for you, but please keep it to yourself and please grow up.

You mean to tell me tell me you guys made a post about FM2 and had the nerve NOT to give me a due date...I must have rubber burning goodness (goes back to sniff the burnt rubber in his OXM mag)

Justin McElroy...you're on notice. :)

But anyway, I love the idea of racing sims. I never got into the GT series [despite owning all 4 of them across 2 platforms]. But to me Forza was all about trying to bloody drift. AND I STILL CANT DO IT.

Good thing it wasn't 23 cars. If it was 23 cars your 360 would explode.

Preach on Real Steve!!!!

I love the GT series and I also own all 4 of them. I played them a ton and loved every minute. The real problem with Jojo is that he thinks GT is a racing simulator. Sorry Jojo, but you are sadly and disgustingly mistaken.

The only thing the GT series simulates is horribly embarrassing AI drivers. You can almost see the large 3-foot spikes welded to the bottom of the cars which run along the ditch in the middle of the racing line on every track...
