I have a set of the $20 madcatz component cables and honestly I couldn't be happier with them. These are definately over priced but if they can get people to pay that for them good for them.

I've posted this before, but maybe we need a refresher.

Confucius say: "Fool and his money are soon parted."

"Premium cables" are the kind of scam I'd run if I were just a bit less scrupulous -- find sucker, sell sucker overpriced crap, take sucker's money, repeat.

I've bought Monster cables for my TV before and they were the first cables to break. Definitely not worth the premium price they charge. You're paying for "looks" not quality.

I'm in the 'cable' industry and unless Monster is hand-making them here in the US by overpaid folk they are same cables being made in China and OEM'ed out. Copper prices are still high, but nowhere near to justify this kind of pricing.

Monster = Overpriced Junk.

My Wii looks great on the $5 component cables I picked up from eBay.

There's a very simple rule to follow when considering the purchase of Monster Cables: Don't.

There. Problem solved.

Oh, and the BEST deal for Wii Component Cables?

$9, includes shipping! I have one and so does a friend of mine. Works perfectly, fine quality.

Monster cables are generally high quality, but not high enough to justify the ridiculous costs. Optical and HDMI cables are prime examples; way over-priced for a non-improvement.

What you are paying for is the near-unlimited warranty. The last time I checked, you only needed 3/4th's of the cable to do an exchange, and any location that sells that monster cable has to do a warranty exchange.

We had some MC vendors explain it to us and give us partial samples when I worked at Musician's Friend. Some employees took the samples and traded them in for whole cables at Guitar Center. Monster Cable changed their samples after that needless to say. LOL

Times change, but that's how it was 3 years ago.

Crikey! $60 is almost 25% of the console purchase price. That's ridiculous!
