Yeah, I've had Planet Earth preordered for almost two months now. I'm praying to god that it gets a good video transfer. It's actually a steal - 11 episodes at 50 minutes each, with some special features? Impressive.

No Blu-Ray is exlusive. As for planet earth- why spend the money when it's 1080p for free on DVR? I love that show =)

@4: What do you mean "No Blu-ray is exclusive"? Anything from Buena Vista and Columbia will be, and there are some pretty big titles in those catalogs.

And... who the hell is your cable provider? I'm pretty much certain that no one broadcasts in 1080p. Sure, 1080i and 720p, but no one does 1080p. If your box does it, it's probably just upsampling the 1080i signal. Regardless, even if it WAS broadcast at 1080p, the compression of broadcast TV really hurts the image. If you were to do a side-by-side comparison of Planet Earth on air next to Blu-ray, you'd see a huge difference.

I just got back from Target.

They had Scanner Darkly for $24.99. eh, still too pricey. I refuse to pay more than $19.99 for a Bluray. disc.

I found a place nearby that sells used Blurays from $11.99 and up. Their in mint condition too.

I paid $84 buying on Bestbuy.ca, free shipping. And it's a four disc set with eleven 50 minute long episodes - that's a lot of content for $84.
