i would love to see xenogears end up as one of those remakes...definitely one of the best games i've ever played. props to #3 for giving credit where credit is due.

You guys do realize that FF VII would only be on a SONY platform since the original Final Fantasy VII was published by SONY Computer Entertainment and developer by SquareSoft. Meaning that SONY has alot of pull one where Final Fantasy VII goes.

Microsoft bought Rare a year or two back from Nintendo, save for Donkey Kong, which is still owned by Nintendo.

So yes, if Microsoft can decide where their owned franchises goes, then Sony can do the same in owning the publishing rights to FFVII, unless another buyout occurs.

Uhh, you guys realize that FF7 would NEVER be able to go to the DS, right? Size constraints primarily. Also Sony has some very strong weight when it comes to Square-Enix due to saving their ass after FF: The Spirits Within destroyed Square Pictures. The reason that FF7 wasn't made for N64 was because there was no possible way to fit it on a cartridge then, and absolutely no way it'd fit on a DS cart (it'd hardly fit on a UMD now).

Also, there's no chance in hell it'd make it on the Wii because of the fact that Sony would never give them the rights to emulate their games (all the VC does is emulate, so it's not even able to be considered a port).

Back to an early post... How can you say FF1-3 sucked? FF1 is probably one of my favorites gameplay wise in the series! That, FF5, and FFTactics are my three favorite to play. FF2's leveling system ruined that game though. FF3 was great as well though.

Can't wait for more FF remakes! I hope they redo FF4-6 on the PSP the same way they're doing the FF anniversaries, and I hope to high fucking heaven that they remake FF7 for next-gen... Even if it just looks like FF12, I'd be in heaven even in that case.

Until then, playing FF7 on my PSP homebrew will hold me over.

i think a remake of 7,8,9 would be realy good because they are all 1st class games. although i copletly understand what alot of you are saying about "just bring out new ones" because new games ARE better, however since the split of square soft and then made to square enix they have not made a decent game since (new at least) they made 12 wich was too long and was concentrating on making it stupidly big and put about 10 mins of story in. i think the problem is that it was trying to be like oblivion and cut the random battles and cut all the stratagy and made it a hack and slash (i like oblivion but not for the ff series).also if any body knows why squaresoft split please inform me.
