Readers pick the best webcomic: Koopa!
What a fitting way to send off the 300 "This is Sparta!" gag by honoring one of the best gaming representations of the joke -- namely, Scott Ramsoomair's VG Cats.
Second place goes to Rooster Teeth and third place belongs to Slackerz. Thanks to everyone who voted; now that we've seen pretty much every noun possible as a replacement for "Sparta," any repeat of the gag would have to be really clever for us to consider it. (And no, you can't get away with simply replacing the subject and/or verb.) Be sure to let us know of any gaming comics you stumble upon this week!

Much preferred the slackerz 300 comic....

Obviously a deserved winner. Do the other guys know they're expected to put jokes in their comics?

Well, I did make a "This. Is. SINNOH!" comment on some pokemon message board... but that was actually in response to someone saying "This is madness" for unrelated reasons, so I still felt rather amused with myself.

I agree with you, dbeech. Hands down, the best comic. The other comics were rather ho-hum.

I agree with the votes submitted for VGCATS.
I read this comic faithfully and thought the Sparta offering was absolutely outstanding

Frankly I dont even understand how Penny Arcade got 9% of the votes, even among other ho-hum comics, it really was the least funny of all of them this week BY FAR, but received the 4th most votes.

Here's an unknown webcomic done entirely in the illustrious world of MS Paint. The humor makes up for the lack of artistic tools available to the artist.

We started this week with a Pokemon flavored comic what with the DS offerings hitting over the weekend. I'm really looking forward to my copy making the transatlantic journey to my UK mail box

Many thanks :)

I don't get why so many people like the VGcats one. The most important panel, the one where he exclaims "This is ___!" was terribly done. The final panel did make up for it, but not enough to make it better than the Slackerz offering.

i personally preferred the Rooster Teeth one, it was original...

I second bombtrak's nomination.
I've been reading Aim For The Brain since its original conception and it's a great comic.

Personally, this weeks wrap-up for me was a tie-up between Digital Unrest and VGcats..
As funny as VGcat's '300' joke was, Digital Unrest had a more original and well thought up joke..
Anyways, my comic submission for next week:
