If the soundtrack is any good, I may consider picking up the LE. After all, any other soundtrack would be priced at $14.99, so if it is good, this is a "steal."
cheater @ Apr 24th 2007 9:10PM
I am wonder if it will be on other systems later because I don't see the "Only on Xbox 360" stamp on the cover.
Galls @ Apr 24th 2007 9:11PM
GET RID OF THE VERIZON MUSIC ADS ASSHOLES,
Some slut came over my speakers blasting.
Ian Von Porter @ Apr 24th 2007 9:12PM
Kant wait to play it on my PS3... woo! Wont be getting the Ltd. Edition though.
Patrick @ Apr 24th 2007 9:15PM
triforceowner, psshh i have this store down the street that gives away free music. forget what its called, i think its called Internet, weird name i know but they have some good stuff, you should try them out
Triforceowner @ Apr 24th 2007 9:20PM
When music is good (as I specifically mentioned above), it deserves to be paid for. As for bad music; it's not worthy of my ears.
Defenestrator2.0 @ Apr 24th 2007 9:22PM
I'm with Galls on this one. Please get rid of the Verison pink Chocolate ad. It's getting on my last nerves.
Oh and Galls? That "slut" is Hillary Duff. I can understand confusing them, though, because they're basically interchangeable.
As for your question about the "making of" DVDs, Kevin, I'll give you the short answer: "no."
Zach @ Apr 24th 2007 9:23PM
Please remove the Verizon music add, or atleast disable the audio, I hate having to manually turn off the audio loop myself.
Arturo @ Apr 24th 2007 9:23PM
In my opinion, the making of halo 2 dvd was pretty boring but i enjoyed the one for gears but i dunno if ill get this one...

@ Ian Von Porter:
Don't hold your breath. Just becuase Eidos, a publisher who is mostly multi-platform, announce some games that were never touted as exclusive to the 360 for the PS3 today does not mean you will see Bioshock. Have fun dreaming, or play it on PC. Otherwise, you're SOL. :)
Matt B @ Apr 24th 2007 9:58PM
@ 12
Having a nice PC is like having a 360. The good games always make the leap thanks to the whole "Games for Windows" idea. Having a PS3 also, it just picks up the rest of the ones that don't.

You know, as an owner of both, I can say I don't care where it falls. Personally, I'll wait until it's $20 to snag it anyway since I have only mild interest in the title. But, here is where you are wrong in three points.
1. Kane & Lynch were touted as 360 exclusive. And then the australian publisher for the title broke the silence on the PS3 version and then went ignored and buried as rumor. It went back to being a 360 exclusive.
2. Eidos themselves stated they would not support PS3 until late into the next fiscal year citing installed base. Even going as far as clarifying this meant PS3 would get no Eidos love this christmas which meant Kane & Lynch were immediately denied PS3 release, reconfirming 360 exclusiveness. Well, so much for that.
3. Like Kane & Lynch, MGS4, Oblivion, Splinter Cell:DA, Eternal Sonata, and DMC4, Bioshocks status is constantly being filed in the rumor mill. Could be nothing, could be something. Disgarding Bioshock as a potential crossplatform title is merely sticking your head in the sand. Bioshock is not owned by Microsoft thus saying "Hey, look at those 2 million consumers over there" wouldn't exactly be considered crazy.
Kritz @ Apr 24th 2007 10:10PM
"Although does anyone actually watch those "making of" DVDs for games?"
I've watched the Halo 2 one about 3 times, I've watched the Doom3 one longer than I played the game for, and I'm planning on watching the Guitar Hero II one sometime soon.
Oh, I've also watched the Oblivion and Mech Assault 2 ones.
There's just something so fascinating with "behind the scenes" extras.
ridestowe @ Apr 24th 2007 10:13PM
i always watch the making of's when i receive them, which is rare, but i've watched all the WoW ones, and this looks to be a rare limited edition that i will purchase :)
FrankTheCrank @ Apr 24th 2007 10:22PM
Just to think, all that extra crap must have cost them, maybe, $2 to produce.
Not happy enough with the $59.99 they already hose you for a "next-gen" game, they just got to make the hosing that much more special.
jp @ Apr 24th 2007 10:34PM
y bother buyin it when it will appear online prob even before the game comes out
bounchfx @ Apr 24th 2007 11:14PM
GAY. let me buy an artbook pls thx?
Peter Johnston @ Apr 24th 2007 11:18PM
I enjoyed watching the Making of God of War 1 and 2.
umm....hello??? @ Apr 24th 2007 11:37PM
I watch the making of dvd's for LE at least once, if not 2 or 3 times total. interesting stuff, especially when they detail parts that DIDN'T make the cut, or other ideas that they had that might make it into a future game. the music CD is well worth it, 'cuz I'll probably play the soundtrack quite a bit and/or mix it with some other stuff...HOWEVER, I agree with whoever said $60/game was too much...(especially given that if the same game were available for the PC it'd only be $40 tops)...sooo...the question is, just how LIMITED is the limited edition (ie- can I wait for the price to drop on it?)...
Mikeawesome @ Apr 24th 2007 11:45PM
Where did that picture come from at the top of this page?
I really would like that as a wallpaper.
mmm.
Elyscape @ Apr 24th 2007 11:53PM
@21:
According to somewhat at 2K Games, it's gonna be very limited. See here:
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3158969
Due to the, uh, sorta late decision to have a limited edition, they had a late start on, among other things, figurine production. This makes the number of copies available of the limited edition somewhat... limited. Unheard of, I know. Anyways, this is also why only GameStop and EB will be carrying it; attempting to sell it at more retailers would result in a very, very small number of units per store. This way resolves that problem somewhat.
Tony Bowman @ Apr 25th 2007 12:00AM
i bet all of "fan ideas for LE content/items"was all already in preproduction and had manufacturing runs set up already. heh. they just gave us an illusion of making it all happen.
pumpkin @ Apr 25th 2007 12:23AM
not bad for 10 buck xtra specially if the figurine is Collectors Quality.
GJM @ Apr 25th 2007 4:50AM
FrankTheCrank,
It probably cost them around $2.50 - then they mark it up to wholesalers at $5.00 who mark it up to retailers at $7.50 who mark it up to consumers at $10. See you in the next post for another feeding!
:)
usedtabe @ Apr 25th 2007 5:58AM
@Sheppy
Well, I was always under the impression it was mulitplatform(Kane &Lynch), as not only did I never hear of being a exclusive from MS(not saying it didn't happen, just never heard it myself), but I never saw it in the exclusives list you see posted on here and other sites when the fanboys start comparing systems and games(PS3&360). Ever since I downloaded the trailer off of the LIVE marketplace, and it not saying "On Xbox 360 Only" anywhere, i took it as it was multiplatform, and not just to PC.
On the announcement made by Eidos about not supporting the PS3 til X-mas, I always thought of it as 2 things....A. They're full of crap, or B. They don't plan on releasing ANY games til around then for either system. And seeing as how Kane & Lynch is now pushed back for all platforms, it more or less confirms my second theory IMO(could be wrong).
Now, Bioshock, though my statment came across as a "never for the PS3", unfortunately I have to withdraw that, becuase you never know. It seems less likely to happen, but as I've gotten back into games, I can see this is still a very fickle business. One that pisses me off to no end. not due to exclusives gained or lost per say, but more due to release dates not being kept and indefinite delays on many games. The excitement for a game can be really over-shadowed by the constant delays it may go through, and it's starting to get to me. In the end, tough I prefer my 360, I say kudos to the PS3 for scoring some more games, becuase that's what it's all about in the end, the games.
Alex @ Apr 25th 2007 8:29AM
definitely getting the collector's edition. The x360 version will be the best one
Jake @ Apr 25th 2007 8:38AM
The problem with cross platform titles is that you have to build them to the weaknesses of boths systems and not to the strengths of either. The PS3 can't run Gears of War or Mass Effect as is. When MGS4 drops, the 360 wouldn't be able to run it as is. Bioshock, being a more graphically intense game, may not run great on the PS3 without some serious overhaul.
The 360 and PC, while not identical, are fairly similar to develop for and share the same types of assets. That is part of why you see an unprecedented amount of titles shared by the 360 and PC. It isn't because of "games for windows". The reason PC and 360 share more titles than PS3 and PC is simply similarity. Without that similarity, the 360 would have less games. It is a good thing for 360 owners and PS3 fanboys, as the fanboys can just dismiss many great 360 games that aren't on PS3 by just lying about owning a PC.
And yes, console exclusive still matter. Most console owners don't have a PC and most is a significant portion. When deciding between getting a 360 or PS3 first/only, games like Bioshock have to have some weight on the decision. Hell, I bought a 360 when Oblivion dropped, for Oblivion. I've never even owned my own computer.
Eric @ Apr 25th 2007 8:39AM
BTW, the LE for the PC is $60, not $70 like the 360 version.
Grindstone @ Apr 25th 2007 1:34PM
I hope that isn't the cover art. That "kid" looks like Golem's bastard son. Gives me the creeps.
segadult @ Apr 26th 2007 5:23PM
Hell yeah, I watch those "Making Of" dvds. I guess you're not, but I am very interested in the thought and care that goes into the design and development of games. It's also one of the rare times that we can get a face put on the people who dedicate years of their lives to creating the games we love. Usually, we only get a producer's face. While producers are important, I'm much more interested in the people whose minds created the worlds we escape to.

"When music is good (as I specifically mentioned above), it deserves to be paid for. As for bad music; it's not worthy of my ears."
I agree. However, the music is in the game. You already paid for the game. Why should you pay more money for the music you already bought that came with the game?
anonymous @ May 30th 2007 11:15PM
I'm 29 years old, so I don't have any reason to want the figurine.
I can get the making-of DVD content and the sound track on bit torrent, once the game is released.
I'll save my $11 (10% tax)
