Blue Dragon sequel may go online
The sequel to the Xbox 360 Japanese RPG Blue Dragon may include online play. Speaking to Japanese website Gpara.com (translated by Eurogamer), Mistwalker producer Hironobu Sakaguchi said that they are in talks with Microsoft about developing a sequel and that, "specifics aren't finalised, but there's a possibility that it will be produced as an online title."
To what extent Sakaguchi is considering integrating online play is unknown; it could be anywhere from online trading to a full-blown MMO. It is pretty much assured Microsoft, with a minimal-at-best library of RPGs for the Xbox 360, will greenlight a sequel to the one title that has so far proven to be successful in Japan.
Blue Dragon will be arriving in North America August 15 and Europe in September.

I never know to much about this game, only the fact that it has gotten lots of publicity over the past couple of years, but for sum reason I want to play it...just to see whats the deal....not a rpg type player but hey I can take my chances on it....

Big whoop! First come out with the first one in north america so we can see if its any good, than talk about the second one. I hate this crap. Planning the 5th sequel before half your audience even gets the first one... In between the news about the sequels is more delays for the original...

Or... planning the second sequel. But whatever... 5th... 2nd... pretty much the same thing.

Microsoft doesn't care if this thing flops in the US, they'll still make a sequel because it sells 360s in Japan. I know all of us Americans think the world revolves around us, but sometimes it doesn't.

Game has been done farbod, it was released in Japan a few months ago. All they had to do was tweak a few things and put it into English.

This is what I want for the 360:
An action RPG ala Secret Of Mana crossed with Kingdom Hearts II with a little bit of Vagrant Story's weapon customization. Make it so that you can co-op play online with chat. Give me that and it will be totally awesome.

Expect to hear alot about this one from MS, and its eventual sequals too. MS is going to do everything they can to get this to be a popular franchise, not only because they publish it, but because it will be THE benchmark for how well JRPGs fare on the 360.
MS is using Blue Dragon to show Japanese developers that its safe to develop games for the 360. MS needs Blue Dragon to be a hit, and if the first one doesn't do it, they'll try for #2 to be the big one.

How about they first release the US Version. Like really. if not many buy the game you can't have a sequel (Then again, where's the money coming from? O.o)

Minimal-at-best library of RPGs... Well, true to some extent, but right now the Xbox 360 has the most upcoming RPG, MMORPG and action RPG games out of all three big consoles, both of the Western and the Japanese variety. Not that the selection couldn't (and shouldn't) be even better.

I love that picture. :)

I know that owing to south-park jokes, this is going to sound ironic... but I wouldn't imagine it's doing especially well (here) in Japan. It looks completely soulless... like something put together by people who don't really think much of RPGs or Manga/Anime style, but think there's money to be made off of it.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it looks like one of those averaged faces that are supposed to be attractive, but are actually creepy.

@notnato
I guess notnato it could seem that way. The character design was made by ...Tori Aymana? something like that. He's responsible for the character design behind Chrono Trigger(heard of it?) and DB, DBZ, DBZ:GT.
I'll be first to admit, a lot of people complain of repeatative storylines in dbz, but honestly, I love the characters. Vegeta FTW!
