Call of Duty 4 to premiere on ESPN this weekend

Makes sense. Call of Duty went from being an awesome FPS game for team based competitive play, to a console gimped shit fest for meat heads. So why not advertise to those meat heads while theyre watching the draft? Excellent idea.

Ugh, this is just too much. I can see how yearly version of COD may be a good idea (even though... how much WW2 can you really make?), but this is getting ridiculous.

Even Madden is limited to one release per year, these guys seem to want to shoot for every 3 months.

I'm just glad this game will be made by InfinityWard, so it's not going to be the crapfest that COD3 was. I'm tivoing the draft just to see if this will be any good.

COD games and Clancy games play completely different from one another. The only real similarity is you use weapons that exist in real life to shoot stuff. Otherwise, they are much different as far as shooters go.

I rented COD3 and was instantly bored with it. I enjoyed COD2 because it looked great on my HDTV and was pretty fun. More and more I can's stand FPS games where you float around and shoot stuff.

I like 3rd person where you can dodge and slip into cover, blind fire, etc or at least the 1st/3rd hybrids like Rainbow Six Vegas. It seems like the 3rd person genre keeps innovating and improving the gameplay while FPS games are totally stagnant.

I am so glad they're moving on out of the WWII arena. Once upon a time it was a unique and fresh approach to first person shooters. It's not any longer and comes across as stale rehash.

At some point, you put out enough lame WWII knock-offs and it cheapens the memory of those who fought, died, and sacrified during the real thing.

it almost brings me to tears seeing a truly great original PC only game that took a large step above a diluted WW2 game market to become a sloppy yearly console release...

I just hope it winds up closer to the footage they show than Madden did.

COD3 on 360 was decent, but it's multiplayer was serious under rated, the online multiplayer kicked ass, you could even have split screen+online multiplayer without any graphical downgrades!

Does anyone here that keeps whining about infinity ward releasing another call of duty, know that infinity ward never even worked on COD3? It was another company. (which destoried COD by adding there own "funny" acting.)

COD3 is not on pc because 2 reasons.

1. It's compete crap smoothered in crap and thrown into a septic tank.

2. It was never made by infinity ward. Infinity ward was working on COD4 and didn't want activision to release the crap that is COD3 of pc. I'm personally glad about that decision.

For everyone that complains about FPS staying still on the innovation side. Seriously, the old saying goes if it works great, don't fix it. I play an Fps because it stays constant. There is never a learning curve and it's easy to pick up and play. I don't see how people alway whine over something that works everytime. I want to have fun going around and shooting sometimes, not have a strategy. (I do like strategic games though) Stop whining about it, being the normal fps. If you don't like then don't play it. Also stop with "OMG...another world war 2 game." Last time I check pretty much every game about war is the same, since you know war is the same way over and over agian. Just different weapons and people.

CoD on PC is an excellent game. Multiplayer is very very fun. I never got the expansion or CoD 2, though. They both added "features" that didn't seem to me to fit with the first game, especially the automatic healing in CoD 2.

Anyway, what systems is CoD 4 going to be on? And who's the developer?
