Sex, beer and Guitar Hero in the Lower East Side
It's common knowledge that people who play guitar are cool and get girls, but what about people who play guitar-based video games? The Village Voice tried to answer this question through a trip to the weekly Tuesday night Guitar Hero party at Pianos in New York City's lower East side. The whooping crowds and high-energy, beer-spilling performances described in the article definitely speak to the coolness of playing a toy guitar in a dark, crowded bar. In the end, though, the author lamentably concludes that "Guitar Hero's status as an aphrodisiac is inconclusive." That is until he asks Marcus Henderson, who recorded over 50 of the guitar tracks for the series. "Nothing's sexier than undulating and thrusting about with a plastic guitar while standing on the bar destroying drinks and eardrums," Henderson said. Really, how can you argue with that?

I should check this place out. That's if i actually liked Guitar Hero. Overrated game just like Halo.

I don't want to negatively impact anyone by mentioning this (especially in light of the strict "terms of use" legal issues re: public 'performances' of GH2 product but--)
We do something like this in Denver, too. On a big-ass projection screen on a stage in a popular bar full of people. It's an awesome extension of casual games reaching a big audience and making an assload of people wicked happy.
Harmonix should figure out a way to capitalize on this and bust the (revenue) balls of Golden Tee and NTN trivia. I'm just sayin'.

My friend does a Wednesday night in Silverlake (Los Angeles) with mirroring dual projectors (one behind the 'Heros,' the other over the bar in front of the 'Heros' so they can face the audience and still see the game), a stage, lighting and a fog machine. People love it.
Reading the comments, I start to envision a tour... Start off Tuesday at Piano's, grab a drink at Max Fish before hopping a red-eye from JFK to Burbank (LAX is so, you know, crowded... Plus the traffic!) and meeting your weed-connection guy at Roscoe's Chicken and Waffles before taking the stage in L.A. on Wednesday... Then Denver for the next night's show, falling asleep in the limo on the long drive to Denver International, barely catching your flight to back to NYC... A few days of 'rehearsal' then do it all again.
Hmmm. Nice fantasy.

ooops.. Forgot to mention - My friend's Guitar Hero night in L.A. is on Wednesdays, at 1941 Hyperion Blvd... It's a bar so it's definately 21+
Look for his specially modded real-guitar controller, painted like Eddie Van Halen's signature red with black & white tape pattern... trés "PANAMA"

Dear erikislame,
You neglected to mention where in Denver you're playing? I googled six ways to Sunday and I hope you'll see this and reply. I'd love to down some PBRs and melt some faces...
