I would suggest that if there are any gamers out there that feel as though Bungie is approaching this problem incorrectly, please visit the forums and let your opinion be known. Cheers.

My buddy has been having this problem and one thing that we think might have happened was that he tried to buy the maps when there was a problem with Xbox Live last Thursday.

Yes, because obviously filling the forum with "OMG MAPS NO WORK 4 ME"! Will make them work faster...

Yeah. For anyone having trouble: Make sure a CC is actually assigned to your account.

Still not working for me. I have a credit card assigned, have two account, and have tried every fix I can find. It says I have purchased them, they just aren't installed.

Oh well, I can just play them on Halo:CE

Will,

Nay. If you read my initial post, you will see that I specifically included the phrase "...feel as though Bungie is approaching this problem incorrectly,..." The actual debate here is not whether or not the maps will work or not. Eventually, they will, even if Bungie has to make them free to all or release them in another fashion. The fact of the matter is that you have 25,000+ people that have paid $4 for an item that they intended to use in matchmaking. However, Bungie refuses to release the maps in matchmaking the download problem is fixed.

Let me ask you this, Wil: If you bought a car, and I said that you couldn't drive that car even after you bought it because someone else wants the same exact car but can't get it, how would you react? The majority of people would want what they paid for. Nothing less. That is the point of the matter, not whether or not the maps will be downloadable because in some way, shape, or form... they maps will become available to all.

I couldn't get them to download right away, added some credit cards, etc, and still it wouldn't let me download.. and then I chose a random silver account on my box, signed in with that, and they downloaded right away. I never had a credit card assigned to that account, so I've yet to find out where they charged the downloads to. Oh well for them.

The Red Ring of Death, the defective Guitar Hero 2 guitars, the Halo 2 map problems...

Is a Microsoft made gaming platform really worth all this trouble? Microsoft's clearly taking their "it doesn't have to work as long as people buy it" PC business model to the console market. The systems look like they should be great and should be a lot of fun, but nothing ever works!

@JW: Although I agree with you, that's a pretty weak analogy. Oh yeah, I'm taking Logic and Critical thinking this semester.

@Steve: Obviously they usually do work otherwise they wouldn't sell, it's just those few that get messed up for one reason or another.

Side note: Microsoft, fix it fast! Please?

Well it worked just fine for me because I refuse to buy maps that support Halo 2. I have no idea why I would pay for something that Bungie employees have said is broken and sub-par.

I like Halo 2; just not enough to sink more money into it, no matter how inexpensive these maps are.

My friend was having problems last week. It said they were purchased, but for some reason an error would occur whenever he tried to download them and he couldn't access them in multiplayer.

Anyway, what he ended up doing was he went to his download history and deleted the "incomplete" file download of the maps and tried again. No problems after that.

I had to update my CC info then it worked fine. BTW Tombstone is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! I am naming my firstborn child Certain Affinity. Hate to rub it in to those of you having trouble, but hang in there it is worth it.

I was having the same trouble, I finally was about to give up, but I decided I would try one last thing.

I went to the harddrive and erased all halo2 data... although it is still downloading it appears to be getting the files at the very least.

I believe the problem may have something to do with either the Map - Pack Game disc I used to update my 360 or something in the halo2 cache after the first failed attempt to download the maps without the linked credit card...

good luck to the rest of you
