Nintendo increasing Wii production to flood planet
It's worth noting that the alleged plentiful supply of Wii we expected Nintendo to supply post launch simply couldn't keep up with demand. So much so that major retailers called foul on Nintendo and reporting shipments of Wii to stores is still appreciated by readers. GI.biz reports that a Nintendo spokesperson has confirmed to them plans to increase Wii production are now in effect.GI.biz was told, "For the first three months of this year we have been producing one million hardware units per month. We are increasing the manufacturing capacity and forecast to ship 14 million in this fiscal year to our distributors and retail customers globally."
Nintendo says they expect a steady flow of Wii through 2007. They also say they've sold 5.84 million units and coyly add that they can't predict when the shortages will subside because there's just so much demand. That's fantastic that Nintendo is ready to flood the world with Wii, now if we could just get some first-rate Wii developed software to go with it.

An ocean full of Wii!
Raikage @ Apr 26th 2007 11:06PM
One Million......and one..... lol
I went Wii hunting today...... zilch........ saw a couple of the new 360s though......
Raikage @ Apr 26th 2007 11:10PM
@3 Whoa buddy. Give it some time. The software will come and they will complain no longer (like the 360 :O ). It will happen for the PS3 too, eventually, as long as they keep their exclusives.....
majortom1981 @ Apr 26th 2007 11:17PM
Rumours are that nintendo just bought monolith so we will see. Hopefully the rumour is true :) then maybe we can get some good rpgs :)
syco @ Apr 26th 2007 11:17PM
@3 I like to think there is an implied "more" between "some" and "first-rate".
Raikage @ Apr 26th 2007 11:22PM
@5
Monolith makes RPGs? I thought they were a FPS developer (Half-Life, FEAR, Condemed)
Raikage @ Apr 26th 2007 11:28PM
@7
I think he is trying to say that the Wii needs some AAA titles that are more focused around the Wii hardware (not the gamecube's {no offence}), yet did so in an untactful way. At least thats what I think he is trying to say, I may be wrong...
Raikage @ Apr 26th 2007 11:31PM
??? Where did his comment go? I better not try to repeat it eh?
Morisato @ Apr 26th 2007 11:34PM

Sliwinski never stated that it was fact. It's your reading comprehension that is flawed, which made you assume that he was trying to claim it as fact. Perhaps he is at fault for overestimating your ability to read. If you had read it properly, you would have noticed that the last sentence has a different tone than the rest of the post. A dead give-away is the word "fantastic" because its opinionative nature. Obviously, it is not "fantastic" that Wii's will be flooding the world for Sony and Microsoft. So how can that be fact? Please learn to read (and understand) before you post. You will be doing the world a public service. Thanks.
Morisato @ Apr 26th 2007 11:36PM
Boo! I was serving him and you deleted his post! Boo Joystiq! Boo!
Raikage @ Apr 26th 2007 11:37PM
@ Morisato
We (Wii?) both look like idiots... thanks to Joystiq...
adg1034 @ Apr 26th 2007 11:39PM
A "steady flow of Wii"? Seriously?
The jokes need to stop. Now.
Raikage @ Apr 26th 2007 11:46PM
Thank you Joystiq :)
We still look like idiots though.... we need EDIT POST! lol
I'm not an R-tard.......

It's already increasing. My Gamestop had Wii when they closed today. And the shipment came in yesterday. Looks like the drought is ending finally.

Raikage @ Apr 27th 2007 12:02AM
@14
Yeah could be true, a friend of mine in California told me that they have had Wiis in stock regularly for weeks now. I was thinking about sending him some money to get me one because they are few and far between here in Idaho. Maybe I wont have too....

@15 I'm just talking to myself on purpose since everyone it.

hey there @ Apr 27th 2007 12:28AM
There is kind of a steady flow of wii's, but stores keep holding the damn things for advertised events instead of just putting them on the shelves.
gir @ Apr 27th 2007 12:29AM
At least we're not R-tards.
Darkstorm @ Apr 27th 2007 12:33AM
Raikage,
I don't remember which is which, but Monolith and Monolith Soft are two different companies. One developed Baten Kaitos (I think) and the other publishes PC games.
Raikage @ Apr 27th 2007 12:53AM
@ Darkstorm
Yeah your right. Monolith Software developed Baten Kaitos. I was hoping for a FEAR of Half-Life 2 port.......lol jk, but it's good they might have gotten a good RPG developer. It will especially help in the Japanese market.

I like the idea of one handed RPGs on the Wii. They rarely require that much dexterity, and that leaves the other hand free for snacks or money laundering.
wackychan @ Apr 27th 2007 1:59AM
Just how in the hell are these wii systems selling?!?
Ive played zelda, wii sports, monkeyball, and excite truck. The controls suck complete ass. The graphics may or may not be better than ps2. And there is no great titles. Although there maybe some mediocre titles like wii sports and monkey ball. Excite truck sucked and im sad to say this as a huge zelda fan. But twilight princess was pure shit. It hurts me deeply to think about it.
And meanwhile everybody thinks theres a fucking revolution going on with this nintendo shit. Yeah it was cool the first few times i played it. But when it started getting old, boy, it sure did get old fast.
THE CONTROLLER DOESNT AIM WHERE YOU POINT IT!
That automatically makes it suck. First person shooters will never work on this console. In bowling no matter if i swing to the left or the right the ball gos to the right every time. And with everyones tv being different sizes and with everyone playing in different places, the controls for the wii will always suck ass.
People see new, nintendo, gimmicky, and cheap. I guess thats a good way to sell. Good for nintendo. maybe not so good for the consumers though. If nintendo pulls through for the next few years, you better bet your ass that your gonna need a classic style controller to play a AAA title on this bastard child of a machine.
mo @ Apr 27th 2007 2:16AM
@26
its selling because its not over 500 dollars, its controller is innovative and great for party games which nintendo prides itself in
its all up to opinion buddy, we dont all need amazing graphics to have fun with videogames, in fact this last year is the only time weve had amazing graphics, and we all liked videogames before then
so just calm down, just because you dont like it dosent mean the 5 million + people that bought themselves one have to hate it too
wackychan @ Apr 27th 2007 2:40AM
Well il played wii sports on my friends wii. Then I went out and bought one as soon as i could. I bought a few titles and felt totally ripped off after buying them. Me nor my friend even touch our wiis(rofl) It just pisses me off that i bought a console that i now believe is not going to reflect my investment in the long run.
Who knows, maybe ill trade it in towards a ps3. Its just not for me i guess.
My best friend and I, me having 360 and a wii, and him having all three, we only play gears and halo 2 atm with a few other friends via system link. We talk about games all the time and we seem to agree that the wii fooled us both.
Even another one of my good friends(doesnt own a console) plays counterstrike and WoW religiously admits halo and gears of war are in a league of their own. He doesnt invest in a 360 because he only likes playing multiplayer stuff. But I think hes pretty close to buying one cuz hes into xbox live.
As for the new systems, time will tell. Sorry about talking so much shit all the time, but ive been under alot of stress lately and i feel i need to vent it somewhere.
NintendoFanbot @ Apr 27th 2007 3:15AM
"THE CONTROLLER DOESNT AIM WHERE YOU POINT IT!
That automatically makes it suck."
If it did, split-screen multi-player would have been terribly awkward.
It only sucks if you assume that's how it works. But the Wii remote is based around motion/tilt-sensing and not lightgunning. ;)
wackychan @ Apr 27th 2007 3:21AM
"It only sucks if you assume that's how it works."
Everyone knows that how it works.
idioteraser @ Apr 27th 2007 7:27AM
And yet wackychan cannot control a single wii game while millions of others have absoletly no problems and consider the wii controls of a game far more superior in FPS then any other console system.
Godfather wii, Madden wii all are considered far more fun to play then the other console versions including the supposedly uber system then PS3.
Funny how the hardcore gamers are the ones who have the trouble with a wii game while the ones who have never picked up a controller can easily grasp the wii controller in 15 minutes.
aylera @ Apr 27th 2007 10:11AM
"Funny how the hardcore gamers are the ones who have the trouble with a wii game while the ones who have never picked up a controller can easily grasp the wii controller in 15 minutes."
Working at Gamestop, and having to help people even start the game on the system (Gee, click the big ass icon that says SUPER PAPER MARIO...), I'd say that's not true.
When I tell them, reel in the fish just like you would in real life, you'd be surprised how many dumb ass motions people make with the controller.
The general masses aren't as smart as you give them credit :P
Almack64 @ Apr 27th 2007 10:41AM
@ Wackychan I was just wondering what games you got for the wii. I've played a good many and have enjoyed most of them. Here's my list and my personal ratings.
Zelda, beat it, 9
Elebits, beat it, 8
Wii Sports, got pro in most, 7
Sonic, put it down, 6
Excite Truck, beat it, 8
SSX Blur, beat it, 9
TMNT, beat it, 6
Trauma Center, beat it, 9
Reed Steel, beat it, 7
Cooking Mama, put it down, 5
Super Paper Mario, still playing, thus far 8
Kizzle @ Apr 27th 2007 10:50AM
Mainstream game coverage always seems to lag 6-8 months behind the dedicated gaming news outlets, so I hope Nintendo gets these out soon, lest everyone finally realize what a lot of people who aren't biased fanboys have already realized:
This system sucks.
Alex @ Apr 27th 2007 10:56AM
The last sentence is too truth. Someone needs to send Ninty tons of blackmails, the next firrst party games coming out are Mario Party 8 and H.A.M.M.E.R. (supposevly) which we haven't heard a thing about
Allen @ Apr 27th 2007 11:49AM
Nintendo has out done themselves by making millions of units for the Nintendo Wii. I think it’s because of the demand for more Wii systems; it sold a lot of units around Christmas. Now the supply will increase around the world so that everyone can have their own unit. There are popular games that are sequels for the Wii and people want them. The most exciting for the Wii is The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and everyone must have it for Zelda fans, or they can just get the GameCube version and not waste $249.95.
Mr Khan @ Apr 27th 2007 4:18PM
I cannot believe people still think the Wii somehow runs light-gun style
I'd say you're allowed to troll, as long as you get your facts straight first...
(shakes head in disbelief)
wackychan @ Apr 27th 2007 5:24PM
Well there should be some type of calibration for the damn thing so you can actually aim.

Raikage,
No you look like e-diots because you don't reference a person's name. This ain't a forum. Its not first come first serve posting. stop using the @# crap and quote.
Aberu @ Apr 28th 2007 1:44AM
@lightgun comments
It isn't lightgun, you are right, but you are wrong as well. It's the closest thing to NES lightgun, IR receiver and all. The IR receiver checks where the pointer should be, and is combined with the motion sensing. This is still ancient technology that is super cheap, and yet each controller is the same as a PS3 controller which has so many more buttons, two analog sticks, and the same motion sensing. Try out Warhawk sometime you PS3 doubter's. It's plenty of motion sensing, and it's not a cutesy cutesy demo of a game that gives you 4 hours of play at most kthx.
ShaleX @ Apr 28th 2007 2:49AM
Millions of people aren't agreeing with you on the better FPS controls. Most think FPS controls on Wii suck. Fanboys can grab a peice of poop, and will try and convince me it's innovative and 100% accurate.
that being said, the system is flawed, but right now, it needs software. It's selling off Wii Sports, that's it really. And when i first got Wii Sports, it was damn cool... that was 6 months ago though.
