As for the characters I hope they get rid of, one of them should definetly be Mewtwo, the heck was he doing in SSBM? pfft

I seriously think the Laurent Fischer quote is just him being necessarily coy about it. Imagine the mass chaos if he admitted Sonic was in the game. There are people who'd probably camp outside the developer's studio, they'd be in such anticipation. Better to reveal it when the game's actually out there for sale.

This, of course, assumes Sonic actually is in the game, but with all that pushing I'd be very surprised if he wasn't.

I didn't haven't read all the comments above. But I'm sure someone did(or will) make their claim that SSB64 is better than SSBM.....which doesn't make much sense because SSBM is the same but better in many ways, with the exception of the old announcer.

Dan:Actually, nobody mentioned that. It really went in the direction of whether or not Sonic would be suitable for the Smash Bros environment.

It's funny you should mention that, however. The only time I've actually heard that is from my friend who will swear up and down that the original is much better. Of course this is the same person that doesn't like widescreen and likes VHS tapes to DVDs. Consider the source, that's all I'm saying.

The thing I missed in Melee was the ability to set up combination mine traps. I could set it up so that I could punch someone into a mine, which sent them into another mine, into a third, and finally off the screen. You just couldn't pull that off in Melee for some reason.

The game will use the wiimote or at least have the option to. Its stupid to think otherwise, they cant exclusivly use the CC or the GC controllers because not everyone will own them.

Also why wouldnt using the wiimote/nunchuk work? It has enough buttons to pull the game off without motions.

A - A Attacks
B - Special Attacks
Z - Grab
C - Jump
D-Pad Down - Taunt.

Is it any coincidence that what looks to be the best Wii game we will see for a while, and the one we might play forever doesn't use the Wii controller? I mean a greatly experienced team of people who know gameplay like the back of their hand, and know that gameplay is key to making a successful game decide to not use the controller, touted as the future of gameplay.

Kthx...

@57 Go read on the official Brawl website, the blog by the creator that he has absolutely no intention of supporting the Wiimote due to gameplay restrictions it would cause in the heat of a battle. KTHX! Case closed, no more argument that it will use the Wiimote or not till HE says otherwise, or Nintendo does, or the game comes out.

my god, maybe we will actually see it this year. i really really hope they put online play in it too. that would make it the most fun game ever. i mean its fun by yourself but its tons more fun with a party of people (me and my friends get together and play it about twice a week during the summer). and since you cant always have the big party group over there, online would be phenomenal.

you know what.....if they dont put online on it, im selling my Wii.....not really sure what that would do to Nintendo.....but im doing it dammit!

Aberu:

Wiimote = "3D" device
SSB = "2D" game

Pure and simple. Because of the wiimote's foundational 3D nature, I would think that just about any wii-like features would just feel weird and tacked on in a 2D game. And besides, why fix it if it ain't broken? In a way, this is a good sign that developers aren't mindlessly implementing wiimote controls and making a necessary effort to see if they fit or not.

This game would sell millions even if the game sucked. The hype is so big there will be so many people buying before they know anything about the game.

"Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima reportedly got a chance to play a version of the game with Smash Bros. director Masahiro Sakurai."

I want to see a replay of that match.
That sounds awesome.

But yet instead of people here finding out who contradicting who,we still arent using facts with opinions here,lol.

NEWSFLASH:Has anyone looked at how Sonic games are fairing this day and age??If you havent notice,or too scared to admit it,they have NOT been crowd pleasers with fans as of the past 7 years,as oppose to games like Mario,MGS,Zelda,ect just to name a few,and there STILL SELLING LIKE HOTCAKES.Its quite clear when a delovopment team has ran outta ideas for a series that has died after the Genesis era.And thats current info,not 93's era,lol.

Anyhow,The 2 things I thought Smash characters were about is characters returning from the past(meaning having classic history with Nintendo in some way shape or form),and/or characters that starred in games that sold millions(see the reason why you see so many Pokemon outta those balls? lol).Millions has not been a familar in Sega's case.

So,IMHO,Sonic could work from a animation stand point of view(Look at Bowser's big gressy ass >.>)BUT,at the same time,I feel that hes breaking a character vow that the other characters share currently.
However,thats not to say I want him in this game either,as I hinted earlier,hes one of those characters that either need to be put to rest,or made from a devoplment team thats gonna reavitalize something "new" in him to make us wanna buy the games again.
