While the friends list update for the PS3's dirt-slinging racer, MotorStorm, provided some relief from the title's early woes, the 1.2 update -- whose contents have just been posted on the European Official PlayStation forums -- is looking like a comically oversized can of bug-killer. Due out in mid-May, the free update will be required for online play.
The list of improvements include: fixing the dreaded "boost exploit," the improved buddy list will now support up to 50 friends, standard-def text fixes, surround sound audio fixes, improved online stability, fixed possible save data corruption bug, and more! Anyone given up ridin' dirty because of the bugs and looking to roll back up?
[Thanks, Will]

I hadn't experienced any bugs... maybe I'm just lucky though.
A bit mad... I thought release and patch later tactics were an Xbox Exclusive.

Wasn't Motorstorm more or less rushed to market? I thought that was the biggest reason for not having split screen 2 player on one console.

I have a quick question. Lets just say I bought a new particular game that has just been released. Then just say the game has some bugs in it. I will then have to download a patch to fix the promlems.
Well now lets just say a person bought this exact same game 5 months later at the shop. Will they still need to download the patch to fix the bugs or will the bugs have been all ironed out on the newer released version of the same game. By the way Im not talking about a patch that adds some extra playing levels to the game. Im just talking about game glitches.Im saying this because not all people have an internet connection on their console.

I haven't been interested in racing games since the arcade Cruisin' USA. I might give Excite Truck a whirl.

@sven, of course they would have to re-downoad. The patch would reside on your harddrive and nothing would be writen on the disc. Same concept would apply on all optical (or any none-rewriteable) based games including the 360 and PC.

Yeah, but the developers promised adding new features, not fixing glitches as tends to be one of the first things 360 game developers tend to talk about as "coming down the pipe." I thought Motorstorm was completely functional at the least.

@jon
I believe you missed sven's question entirely.
He's asking if the updated game will be included in the box in the months after it was initially released.
I would expect so. Perhaps when it's time to manufacture/press another run they would update it, but it's entirely up to them.

...lemme know when they fix the bug that doesn't allow for splitscreen multiplayer.
'til then, it's a rental only for me (especially given how few courses (read: short) it is)....even if it is the only other game worth playing aside from R:FoM
