Thank you for explaining. I've been on edge with these "manifestos" (for either side) including here, elsewhere, and in the real world. If that is your gut reaction as you say, then I do see why.

Man, this game is going to be so awesome! I can't wait until it comes out. Also, hopefully I could play on the Russian side as well, since, well, I am Russian.

If liberals made the game it wouldn't be a first person shooter. There wouldn't be any shooting! It would be a game about killing unborn babies. Scumbags!

Thank god this is being dev'd by IW (A PC shop first and foremost). I wouldn't be surprised to see this on the PC first(Apparently Fall 2007), then next-gen consoles. The page listing the PC version is down, wonder if they are revising it.

Trailer looks great. I don't see how anyone can complain about it at all. Lots of jaded people and fanboys who really should give up gaming.

I'd be extremely surprised if this game launched on PC first and came to consoles later, what with the state of PC gaming and piracy.

Considering it's a Call of Duty game, it's most likely going to be linear simple rose tinted patriotism like CoD1 and 2.

When people say CoD2 is realistic, and a great representation of what a WWII shooter should be, it makes me absolutely ill.

the CoD WWII series is basically following in the model of "Cuddly Saving Private Ryan the Game". Just like Medal of Honor.

Now, for real WWII action, nothing beats Red Orchestra. But no one plays that, because it's realistic, instead, people would rather lie to themselves, and think CoD2 is realistic.

I don't generally like WW2 shooters. I have Day of Defeat: Source (which I almost regret buying, got a little entertainment out of it) and Call of Duty 3 for the Wii, only because Red Steel wasn't doing it for me and I wanted to experience solid FPS Wiimote controls. It controls great, by the way. If COD4 is anything like BF2 then I might get it.

@Otis Whitaker
From what I understand of Red Orchestra (I've never played it) you can only play as either a German or a Russian. This is probably the biggest reason why it's not as popular with American gamers.

People like CJ are often right wing fuck-tards that fire off a reply before reading the whole. He read the bit about right wing propaganda but missed the bit about the game being lefty PC bull-shit too. No, he went straight in and started smashing his fat fists into the keyboard FOR AMERICA!!!!

And no, I don't think 9/11 was a conspiracy. I think it was the result of American policy to help out anyone, no matter how horrible, just as long as they caused trouble for the Russians during the cold war. Here's a question for you if you don't believe me. When was the last time you saw the film Rambo 3? I'm guessing it hasn't been TV for about ooo six years or so. Go and watch it and take note of the name of the "freedom fighters" Rambo helps.

Ooooo! Look! I said something you disagree with CJ! Get smashing your greasy fists into the keyboard... FOR FREEDOM!

I'm really glad the libs and truthers are showing their true colors in this thread. I've got news for you, kids: The 18-35 year old men and women who are fighting the war on terror right now ARE the new great generation, and deserve the same amount of respect and admiration we give to the dying generation that won WWII. The people that they are fighting hated you before you were born, hated each other for more than a millennium, and are indoctrinated into a culture of unrestricted violence against women, other religious groups, gays, and blacks - all before they can speak. Modern Islamic terrorism is far more despicable than the desperation and racism that bonded Nazi Germany and let that nation do unspeakable acts, and I'm glad that we're getting the chance to take the fight to the Jihadis in this game.

Don't even start with me you left-wing anti-war people. I'm not saying I like war, but we are helping far more people then you ill-informed liberals would think. I have TONS of friends in the military that tell me that it's nothing close to what the media portrays it here. While they do say that there are bad people there, a lot of good has been done. I just got a picture back from a friend who is a Marine and I could see him playing soccer with some kids. Don't give me this crap that we are nothing but a warmongering country. I think this game is cool and while yes, it's going to hit closer to home, it's the reality we are all faced with. If you want to keep ignoring it and hiding your heads in the sand, go for it. As for me, I'm glad I live in a country where our leaders are strong and want to bring freedom to the rest of the world. I hope this game gives us all a real reality check. Hope to see this game soon!!!

Looks too much like a movie. This is a game! But still, if it doesn't come to PC (even if it did, I wonder if I'd have enough money to upgrade when the game would be released), I will have to pick up a next-gen system partly to play this (assuming it gets good reviews :P). Just afraid of the dual-analog set-up. I'd really prefer a mouse and keyboard in any FPS.

Glad it's by Infinity Ward, though!

Anyway, I really like multiplayer in CoD 1, so I hope this lives up!

I think the setting of this and other "middle east" games are really off putting. I love games. I love shooting my friends in games. But it sticks in my throat when the entertainment you are having is based on a REAL war that real people I KNOW are DYING in RIGHT NOW.

Whats wrong with a bit of creativity here? GHOST recon was set slightly in the future, the rogue spear games always invented scenarios, set in cool locations. Crysis will be on a tropical island. Why cant the mainstream FPS games have invented scenarios - why always actual conflicts?

Ask an iraq vet what he thinks about boys playing at "second tour of Bagdhad". I think its a BAD idea .

Look, this game ain't being made by "liberals" or "conservatives." It's being made by people. JUST people. So don't bring your baseless political shit here. I'm tired of being preached to by the stupid, pompous politicians up in Washington who know absolutely nothing about what they talk about. (The internet is a series of tubes, need I say more?) Can we please just play a video game without bringing politics, political correctness, and other crap into it?

The Liberal version could be called "Call of Duty 4: Run and Hide!" The same mealy-mothed Libs don't care when games are released with ex-cons er "rappers" are beatin the tar outta each other, because "that's normal" for those people to have gold teeth and kill each other, Libs like it that way. But when it comes to games where illegals or Iraqis (those poor, poor Iraqis) are in a "conflict", watch out! It's the Bush administration's way of winning over the "hearts and minds of American youth"...what a bunch of pussies! Racist, backwards, cowards.Liberals.

Give me a break! Messages from a game? The operative word is "game". Next we will hear of ghosts in the PC! Leave your political opinions and emotions to who might care. Otherwise I want graphics, realistic and more modern weapons in a first person shooter. I am hooked on COD 2 and was very dissapointed that COD3 didn't go to PC.

the only reason it wasnt for CoD3 is because Infinity Ward didnt make that one, Treyarch did (and it was shit, a copy of the amazing CoD2)

your welcome

For those of you who believe this game was created solely because of our efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, perhaps you should read the interview about it in Game Informer. They said they created the storyline in COD4 to stay away from political views on the game and still give it the todays-war feel.

Personally I was tired of BAR rifles and sten guns. I'm in the military and I love my M4 carbine, my M2 50 cal, my M14 rifle that's accurate enough to drive tacks at 200 yards. So yes I will definately buy this game when it comes out. Besides, where in the world are we fighting the arabs to get to the Russians???? Oh yeah, that's too real!!!! shew, pathetic

I thought it looked great. But I would like to make one point. Everyone keeps saying that its about Bush's war in Iraq. Did anyone notice the nuke at the end? Last time I checked, no nukes had been set off just yet. And the flag is not any middle-eastern flag, and the language they are speaking is not russian. Oh, and #20, that wasn't a dinosaur, it was a friggin dog.

I m sick to my stomach when i saw the trailer of cod4. i have been a big fan of cod games but this game has gone way out of the limits. We should be preaching peace between the muslims and the west. Instead we are creating a stp game that promotes more hatred. A game abt jihadits will only make the situation worse. I m not gonna buy this game and also advise my frds to do the same.

Like PhilJ said, If this is going to influence the way you think about your world you shouldn't even be playing games. Its just a game, a game where you get to kill people in a war setting and not worry about actually getting killed in reality. Just play and have fun and don't complain. I personally wouldn't care if the game had antiwar or prowar messages on every surface of every object as long as its possible for me to splatter my enemies blood on it.
