Microsoft is one step closer to video game global domination with the release of the Xbox 360 in the United Arab Emirates. The three day launch event kicked off a few days ago in the Mall of the Emirates featuring the 360, some friendly competition, and bunches of fun. The Premium Xbox 360 will cost Dh1,799 ($489 US) in the UAE with games starting at Dh139 DH ($38 US). Now only if Microsoft and the US could partner up with the UAE to create an Xbox 360 for oil program. Cheaper gasoline for 360s would kick major bum.

What the F? If I had a choice of a console that cost $100 more but games $20 less, I'd go for that. After purchasing 5 games, it's all gravy...

Yeah, no kidding.
Or, rather, I'd pay less than 3 dollars a gallon at the pump.
Oil for 360 FTW!

While I agree that cheaper game would be nice, run this through the PR filter. Games START AT that price.
If that really is the price that games will come out at, is Microsoft expecting to make less money back in games and therefore sell the box and disks and the stated prices?

We're paying $100 per game in the UK. Even if you take that $38 as being the budget range, that's still $50 here. *cries*

Actually, the RRP for Xbox 360 games dropped to £39.99 over here about 6 months ago, you're shopping at the wrong places/looking at the LE too much if you're finding many £49.99 priced games. But even then we're shelling out $80 for games and $540 for a Premium console. I looooove being ripped off... uh, living in Europe.
