Good info. Although, I am sad that there will be no 1080P. My tv has that, and I only have two games that support it.

It will still be 1080p as much as any other game out, it will be upscaled to look glorious on your big ass tv's so don't fret.

I am very happy about the lack of 60Hz 1080P support. If you look at some of the PS3 games that do support this resolution, like Pirates of the Caribbean, you see that a lot of compromises have been made to achieve that resolution. I prefer to have a game without compromises, and still great HD visuals (thanks to upscaling).

BTW: I use an LCD screen with 1080p native resolution, but limited to 1080i via HDMI/component.

Pretty misleading title, I thought the Halo 3details were shot down.

Not starting a flame war or anything... but... Gran Turismo HD. That's all I'll say. Shame that Halo 3 won't be 1080p60. Will it be 1080p30? Probably not, a 30 fps framerate in an FPS is kind of a no no.

Legit Question: Nick James, what is the point in 1080p if you only update the frame 30 times in a second? You might as well have 1080i, which Halo 3 will support.

@6, bro why by chance? id rather have steady 30 frames a sec, then be have 60 fps and have it drop to 40 because of system resources

@6: Bullshit. It's flame bait and you know it. Plus, I hate sim racing. Machochistic crap if you ask me.

@8: I agree. I thought DOA4 was beautiful because it maintained it's framerate perfectly.

Devs should focus on 720p this generation anyway. Running games in 1080p isn't worth it if the game could look substantially better at 720p.

The vast majority of us have 720p displays anyway. Demanding that games run in 1080p is asking for the rest of us to accept lesser visuals with no added benefit so that a tiny, tiny fraction of users can run it extra crispy style. Makes no sense.

Maybe they could take a page from computers and give a switch that reduces graphical quality to make the jump to 1080p. I'd prefer that they didn't even do that.

For anyone looking to put that picture on their desktop, I resized it to 1280 x 721 so that it looks better on your desktop.

UGH

THIS SUCKS!

My Xbox died, so I won't be in the Beta, for the full time at least...

Microsoft better be quick with its repairs... but I've already been waiting half a week for a fricken box to send it out in.

And the 'Vast majority' of us still use SD tv's, by the way.

I was talking about HD set owners. I wonder whether SD tv users really comprise the majority of the 360 install base, though.

It's still a bit of a shame about the 1080p thing. Anyway, the game still looks to be shaping up nicely, so..

Do you need HDMI to play 1080p, or can da component cables handle it.

BTW if anyone has the official 360 surround sound speakers could you message me I have a minor question.
