New Star Ocean forthcoming, reveals Famitsu

According to the latest issue of Famitsu, a very credible Japanese gaming periodical, Square Enix will announce a new chapter in the Star Ocean series at the Square Enix Party mid-May. The party is also purported to be showing off 10 Final Fantasy titles, including a "Final Fantasy that is not known by anyone," according to ad for the event.

As for which console the next Star Ocean will appear on is unknown. Developer tri-Ace, who is also known for Valkyrie Profile and Radiata Stories, has predominantly worked with Sony hardware. Their most recently-announced project, Infinite Undiscovery, is the anomalistic Xbox 360 title.

Cool a new Star Ocean game.

Now all we need is tri-Ace to release the first Star Ocean for the super famicom to the virtual console.

Then the Star ocean for the PS1 to the PSN.

After that tri-Ace can release Star Ocean Blue Sphere for the GBC to virtual console and everything will be golden.

That's if Nintendo decides to ever release GBC games to the Virtual Console.

I won't lie- if this comes to PS3, it'll have more appeal to me than Final Fantasy XIII. I loved Star Ocean 3. Since they have voice actors involved, it sounds a bit more likely this is going to be a home console title, not a handheld (I know you can do VA on the DS, but why would Star Ocean do it and not the FFIII remake?).

My money is on the Wii.

Probably Square's way of givin' Nintendo some real lovin' for once. Kinda like giving the new, yet untested star on the block an honest-to-God shot without giving him the Big Guns, yet (FF and DQ).

I hope the game comes to the Wii or the 360, but chances are slim.
And with ten Final Fantasy games coming out, one better be for the 360. And not another MMO game.

Ahhh, Give Square a damn break. Every Final Fantasy is new story so name says Final Fantasy. Hmm what about Legend of Zelda? Same story every game and plus game is called Zelda not Link. So why isn' Zelda a major part of the game? Final Fantasies are the best RPG series.

LOL, you saying Square sucks? They new games make more money than the 6 original titles combined. Square was made famous with their new games. Not Final Fantasy I-VI. They were not main stream even on DS now. FFVII, FFVIII, FFX made the most money and fan fare.

If Final Fantasy sucks than why is all RPGs judged by FF standards? And yup all RPGs are judged by Final Fantasy not Zelda. Final Fantasy is to RPGs is what Halo is to First Person Shooters. Its second to none.

Freak Xbox 360. Square will give them a final fantasy most likely online one. If anything they get one like crystal chronicles.

Square isn't going to put their main games on Xbox 360, I bet they remember when Microsoft tried to buy them out. They support Japan over Bill Gates machine.
