Burnout Paradise emerges from Burnout 5 cocoon
Burnout has always been paradise for degenerates like Rosanna Arquette, but EA has announced that the next iteration of the series will draw the rest of us into her and Elias Koteas' sick game, as Burnout 5 becomes Burnout Paradise.
Besides the assertion that the game "proves that crashing is awesome!" (take that, James Dean) there's not a lot of info that we didn't already know in the official announcement. It's an open-world approach to the game and there are crashes. The release says that you'll "experience the most explosive pile-ups in the series' history," but they don't have any scientists backing that up, so we really don't feel comfortable reporting it. Luckily, you'll be able to do your own research when Burnout Paradise hits Xbox 360 and PS3 this winter.

I love this series and I am joonsing for this game to come out. Forza for simulation and Burnout for arcade racers... both coming out with new games this year.
Me so happy!

A wii version wouldn't be too much to ask for EA, lucky I am a Wii60 gamer

I interested in seeing what a game looks like when its created on the ps3, and then ported to the 360 like whats being done here.

I would be scared to pick it up for the PS3. The 360 version might be better.

Would it really be too much to ask to see crash footage in a trailer for a game that's inevitably going to be all about crashing?
James @ Apr 30th 2007 11:42AM
Good point. What's up with that?
jaz013 @ Apr 30th 2007 12:12PM
What? No Wii or PC? That doesn't work for me. I'll have to borrow somebody else's 360.
Phillip @ Apr 30th 2007 12:14PM
Well, with the artsy black edges and whatnot, I can hardly make out anything in the video.
What I can see looks pretty thought!

Lets all hope that the load times are MUCH better than they have been in the past.
I really love these games, but the loading times are simply pituful. The levels take as long to load as it does to do the crash.
Zertoss @ Apr 30th 2007 12:54PM
There's something oddly satisfying about seeing the EA logo on fire.
umm...hello?? @ Apr 30th 2007 1:11PM
easily an instant purchase...most likely the 360 version (higher install base, will have SPLITSCREEN multiplayer unlike *cough* motorstorm *cough*)...am torn between having gamerpoints vs. trophies, though...and will depend if one version has any "extras" thrown in...
...and thank you for giving it a name, I could never remember whether I was waiting for Burnout 4 or Burnout 5, now I know it's "BP" (does Amoco know about this name change?)
Jonathan Tran @ Apr 30th 2007 1:17PM
This game would be better if you played as Dale Earnhardt, amirite??
TheDragon @ Apr 30th 2007 3:48PM
heh. Elias Koteas was Casey Jones in TMNT.
Then he went on to shoot House MD with drastically less hair.
Awesome.
David Jr. @ Apr 30th 2007 6:15PM
I thought Elias's name seemed familiar.

"A wii version wouldn't be too much to ask"
"what No Wii or PC"
PC is fined, but I hope they don't waste there time make the game for some underpowerd POS.
the burnout series belong to next-gen.

as i heard about this game...its that you are in a big city as body of you saw the map and you can drive freely in that city without loads or anywhere stops you to finish some RACES and then you pass throw ..:D and before all of this you must get the license for driving.. you have a lot of new cool sport cars and you can customize them in garages anywhere ..you can say ( Gran Turismo + Need For Speed + Burnout = Burnout Paradise ) thats what i say :D
