Yesterday when I called 1-800-4MY-XBOX to see if I could have them send me a migration cable without having to print out the order form and mail it to them, they told me they couldn't do that and that I had to print it out. This was of course after being on the phone for 20 minutes with a guy that had been in America for 10 minutes and told me I had to register my console with them before they could send me one... other than that this is my first bad experience with Microsoft.

Have to mail in a form?!? How lame.. obviously they wanted to make it difficult for some reason otherwise WTF would they not just setup something like an online order form?? That would just make too much sense and be too easy.

Yep, this isn't gonna work out. I need to have that cable when I bring in my dead Premium to Best Buy to get the Elite. Oh well, guess I'll have to get memory card and kiss most of my content good-bye....

Yeah I love that you can't get the cable in advance. So, I'm supposed to buy your new console and then not play it for however long it takes the cable to get here? That is such a stupid thing.

Hey guys, just thought I'd give you some help. I can confirm that you can't get the transfer cable by calling support. Not only can they not help you, but they'll put you on hold for 7 minutes while they try to figure it out. So now I'm mailing in a form, and I'll wait 4-6 weeks (or something like that). Most likely I'll have someone who upgrades their hdd send me theirs.

AG...no1 said you cant play it you idiot. if you need the cable then just throw on your 20gb on the elite and play until the cable arrives. if you got the console brand new, then you don't need this cable. its pretty simple actually. doesnt take much brain processing power...well for me at least...you...that might be a different story.

I was kinda disappointed that this was not in the 360 elite box but I also realized the cost of adding this to every new unit would be expensive and be silly, just because not everybody who is buying an elite has a premium. I will just have to use my 20gig on my elite until it arrives now.

Not disappointed anymore. If I can wait this long, I can wait a little longer. I am just glad this is free of charge.

Screw the form folks! Some of us need to sell our old 360s and here is how to get your cable and screw MS in the process for being morons about this issue.

Step 1: Go to Best buy and buy the 120 GB HDD
Mote: Keep receipt!

Step 2: Go home, open it up and use the transfer cable that is included with the HDD to transfer info to your Elite.

Step 3: Exploit Bestbuys 30 day guarantee and return the HDD and the cable.

Now MS will have a bunch of returned and opened 120GB Hard Drives and maybe next time they will use there damn heads and include the damn thing.

I had the same disappointment as you guys. I have a beautiful Elite sitting at home, as useful as a paperweight until the transfer cable shows up.

that being said... "x silence x" has a REALLY good idea. I might have to try it...

Yesterday I did exactly what post #9 suggested. It worked out fine. The up-front investment is kinda huge but you get the money back right away and you don't have to wait for the cable.

@9&11

I also thought of that, but I cannot afford that luxury, as I have to have the cable, Elite, and dead 360 all at the counter for Geek Squad to transfer.

Also I work there, so that kind of stuff would get me fired.

Yeah, do the old switcheroo with the HD. And then what will happen? BB will change their gaming accessories policy to "NO RETURN, exchange only." Thanks for ruining it for the honest folks!
