Find love with 'Mii love you long time' shirt
New from the evocatively named Nerdy Shirts folks comes this "Mii love you long time" t-shirt. We've decided to catalog several of the more notable ways this shirt qualifies as "nerdy" :
- The line is sampled from Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket (nerds love Kubrick)
- Dropping 2 Live Crew lines -- especially from "Me So Horny" -- is very nerdy
- The controversy surrounding "Me So Horny" put attorney-at-lawl Jack Thompson on the map (knowing that is nerdy)
- It's teal

5: Racism against Asians. Totally nerdy.
Why don't you all go party down with Rosie O'Donnell? I hear she swings your way.
andrew K Munkoh @ Apr 30th 2007 7:43PM
is it me or is that somewhat offensive.?
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ Apr 30th 2007 7:46PM
It's not "somewhat" offensive. It's offensive. Period.
Rubang B @ Apr 30th 2007 7:50PM
Hahaha, Miis + Vietnamese hooker movie quotes turned into 2 Live Crew samples = genius.
TomC1234 @ Apr 30th 2007 7:56PM
gee...what's next? Black guy playing Cooking Mama chopping up some watermelons and fried chicken?
Joshua Campbell @ Apr 30th 2007 8:07PM
omg...lol...it is racist...(im laughing at the comments)
machrc @ Apr 30th 2007 8:04PM
he should wear a shirt that says,
Mii-ster Bitch.
Chris @ Apr 30th 2007 8:05PM
I thought it was funny... Then again I'm not an Asian hooker... and it's kind of racist, but racism is funny sometimes... as long as it's not hateful. If it were a white male stereotype no one would say anything. -ducks-
Mark Hale @ Apr 30th 2007 8:06PM
Collard greens, TomC. Jeez, if you're going to be racist, get it right.
DWells55 @ Apr 30th 2007 8:05PM
Not funny, just racist.
VCkilledme @ Apr 30th 2007 8:09PM
Pfft! Stop getting all offended over this. I'm half Vietnamese and I don't find it offensive. People need to get a sense of humor.
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ Apr 30th 2007 8:08PM
Chris:
That'd be because it'd be a White guy wearing a White-guy stereotype, instead of him being a White guy wearing a shirt with an offensive insult to Asians on it.
ill trooper @ Apr 30th 2007 8:09PM
May not seem offensive to some people (I do find it racist myself), but I think you'd feel it if you actually tried wearing that shirt out in a crowded city like here in NYC.
It's not for me. Maybe you can get away with it in your town.
Mr. Shen @ Apr 30th 2007 8:12PM
I am terribly surprised at how consciously aware the comments have been regarding this shirt.
There's a huge backlash waitin' to happen.
mo @ Apr 30th 2007 8:11PM
if your offended by this your a fucking retard
im so sick of this P.C. bullshit
being offended by something like this is nothing short of childish
just GET OVER IT, people will ALWAYS make fun of other people THATS HOW IT IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE
so stop being up tight little puritans and LAUGH
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ Apr 30th 2007 8:12PM
VC: If it was funny, there'd be less of a problem.
But "Me so horny" and "Me love you long time" jokes have been old since 1999.
hvnlysoldr @ Apr 30th 2007 8:12PM
South Park's cow festival episode. The cows got that golden cow clock and committed mass suicide. Cartman was forced to enter the bull riding competition in order to win Terrence and Phillip dolls. The shenanigans and brooms calling. Arresting the tourists. Cartman getting amnesia so he thought he was a Vietnamese hooker who kept saying those lines. How the amnesiac Cartman rode the bull for a long time. And the commentators commenting on that and a hooker with a heart of gold.
Sam @ Apr 30th 2007 8:15PM
Yeah - not very funny. Pretty much just blatant racism.
Alex @ Apr 30th 2007 8:15PM
It had a cultural impact during its time, but it turned into an offensive stereotype on asian women, and the Gaming community doesn't condone that. But who the heck am I to talk for all Gamers, to each his own
Fatass of Kickassness @ Apr 30th 2007 8:15PM
Amateurish concept + terrible art = totally freaking lame.
Alex @ Apr 30th 2007 8:16PM
#14, are you alright dude? Calm down hahaha
Chris @ Apr 30th 2007 8:17PM
You know what, I'm sorry I touched this. I can see how someone would think it was offensive, but I'm not offended, and I think people who DO find it offensive are too sensitive.
Kaemon @ Apr 30th 2007 8:18PM
Wow.... pathetic, alot of you. Stop being so freakin sensitive to anything that mocks anyone and anyway. You people need to get off your high-horse and stop trying to tell everyone that because someone makes a joke about race, its offencive. Here's a hint... Asians and Blacks and everyone else, they make what you would be called racist comments all the time.
Alex @ Apr 30th 2007 8:18PM
LMAO #5
Fatass of Kickassness @ Apr 30th 2007 8:19PM
although I don't see why people are whining about it being 'rasist'. Its a fucking quote. Now, if the 'l's were replaced with 'r's, I could understand your claims, but the only people who would understand the quote in the first place are people who have heard the joke countless times before.
mo @ Apr 30th 2007 8:21PM
@ 21
i had a similar issue at work today, its a lucky chance that i get to blow off some steam on this post
:)
Fatass of Kickassness @ Apr 30th 2007 8:22PM
@24
QFT. I know an 'african american' from work who calls me a 'cracker' every other day. This same man got laid-off from his last job for getting into a fight with another man who uttered the 'n' word.
The doublestandards these days are freaking rediculous.
Digital Fox @ Apr 30th 2007 8:24PM
Wow, I'm asian and I'm not even offended by that. Stop whining.
Fatass of Kickassness @ Apr 30th 2007 8:25PM
Anywhos, this is a terrible joke anyway. I feel sorry for the 14 year old who thinks this is even remotely 'clever'.
Rubang B @ Apr 30th 2007 8:31PM
It gave me a laugh. But I'm not gonna buy it, and I doubt anybody in this comment thread is going to either. Where would you wear it? It was a good pun, but wearing the shirt wouldn't be as funny as getting the 2 Live Crew nerd jokes across in the post.
And don't worry about mo, he hates everybody and gets really mad when the other kids want to play nice.
Alex @ Apr 30th 2007 8:28PM
"But they do it too" has never been a strong argument, there are bigot idiots in every group of people, no sh**, doesn't mean we too should stoop to their level.
Those who like the shirt, wear it if you want to but, as you can see through the posts here, be aware that you might offend some people on the streets and if a jackass comes up to you and punches your face, don't act like you didn't see this coming.
ill trooper @ Apr 30th 2007 8:28PM
#14, Mo, & #22, Chris:
It's cool guys, it's all OUR problem. You guys better go order the shirt. Have a fun time wearing it. Don't mind the ostracizing looks you get from anyone who takes the time to read it. Just more of us 'fucking retards' anyway. Maybe you guys will see each other and hang out! Fun!
Anyway... What gets me about this shirt is that they went straight for the racist gag by making the Mii characture an Asian looking-woman, referencing the hooker scene in the Kubrick film. Coulda just been a Wii remote or something with the voice-bubble saying "Mii love you long time." But they went there on purpose. Sorta gnarly.
This shirt will fail.
Fatass of Kickassness @ Apr 30th 2007 8:29PM
Alex, anyone who punches someone else over this shirt in the first place is a whiny bitch.
Tremada @ Apr 30th 2007 8:32PM
I'm glad some of you aren't offended by racism that has nothing to do with you. That is incredibly racist. I hate how PC this world is too, but there is PC, and then there are hurtful actions.
Fatass of Kickassness @ Apr 30th 2007 8:32PM
@Ill Trooper
I've seen worse shit than this on shirts. THIS IS BARELY RACIST. Maybe if it wasn't directly linked to a pop-culture quote, or maybe if it had 'r's instead of 'l's, I could consider it racist. BUT ITS NOT. They took a character from the movie, used her popular quote, and made her into Mii form. No fucking biggie. I doubt if I wore the shirt to a fucking Asian Pride meeting I'd get more than one or two 'ostracizing looks'.
Patrick @ Apr 30th 2007 8:32PM
no, no offense, no pun intended, but its all fun. its not directed at anyone in particular. I could see you being offended if it said mii rove you rong time
mo @ Apr 30th 2007 8:35PM
@ 31
thank you so much for your permission, no all i gotta do is get the Vietnamese community to sigh off on it, and the guy who made full metal jacket and all the white people who are pretending there offended by this and i can finally PUT ON THIS SHIRT
yay!!!
i laugh at cracker jokes and i dont get pissed off at them, everyone who is offended this easily needs to grow up
Fatass of Kickassness @ Apr 30th 2007 8:37PM
@35
Excuse my french.
YOU PEOPLE DON'T FUCKING KNOW WHAT 'INCREDIBLY' RACIST IS, EVIDENTLY.
This is _barely_ racist. I could see how one would think this is racist, as it is. But _barely_. I don't see any person in their right mind being offended by this other than NON-asians who think that asians will be offended by this.
I just showed my friend Chadd, who is of vietnamese descent, this shirt.
All he said was 'whoop-de-shit. So what?'
Alex @ Apr 30th 2007 8:37PM
Fatass, you're right, that's why I reffered him as a jackass, it was an exagurated example hehe
Alex @ Apr 30th 2007 8:42PM
Be honest people, no one here really gives a damn about it, we're trolling cause we have nothing better to do until Heros comes on.
Tremada @ Apr 30th 2007 8:46PM
@Fatass, I don't care what your asian friend says. Does he represent everyone? And if he was offended, he probablay wouldn't want to admit it to a retard like you. Are you a Fatass? If you are, you must experience some form of prejudiced also. Mii want to stuff my fatass face. That would be funny :D
Fatass of Kickassness @ Apr 30th 2007 8:43PM
Damn, I almost forgot about Heroes! Thanks for reminding me, Alex. 17 minutes left...
Fatass of Kickassness @ Apr 30th 2007 8:44PM
We should all stop and learn to wangle a new dangle on life.
Rubang B @ Apr 30th 2007 8:45PM
Yeah this is barely racist, which is why I'm barely annoyed and think people could be barely offended. This is barely an issue.
But look at mo, he's incredibly freaking out over here. He hates us thiiiiiiiiiiis much!
::holds arms wide open to show a lot of hate::
Hey mo, find me ONE white person offended by the word "cracker." Please. Comparing "the C word" to "the N word" is the dumbest argument on the internet. We all know the C word is not cracker.
SARCASTIC COMMENT ^ @ Apr 30th 2007 8:47PM
@40
I DO GIVE A DAMN ABOUT IT
i cant belive how much racism goes on in the world, maybe if your were asian you would care and youd be so sad that you dont fit in with the white people of america
dvdguy @ Apr 30th 2007 8:47PM
"just GET OVER IT, people will ALWAYS make fun of other people THATS HOW IT IS AND WILL ALWAYS BE"
That's sad.
Rubang B @ Apr 30th 2007 8:48PM
Mii so fat! Mii fat you long time!
mo @ Apr 30th 2007 8:51PM
@43
i wasent talking about the word cracker i was talking about cracker jokes, ( jokes about white people)
and this piss's me off, i live in orange county and every fucking day i have to deal with all the white people pretending they feel bad about the racist black jokes and mexican jokes
Fatass of Kickassness @ Apr 30th 2007 8:50PM
Yes it would be funny, and yes, I pride myself in being the most athletic fatass around.
Furthermore, he may not represent everyone... but neither do you. Especially if you aren't asian ~ you can't even relate in that situation. Do you honestly know any asians who would be offended by that shirt?
And lmao at the retard comment.
Rubang B @ Apr 30th 2007 8:51PM
Hey I have an idea that can make this thread more fun. Let's talk to mo about how he feels about hating gay people (this one's a classic). Hey mo, how does it feel to hate people that are different from you? Calling someone a filthy faggot is just as tame as being called a cracker or a honkey, right?
::shuts down computer, leaves office::
Good day everybody!
