@49 Sidepocket.

It was segas idea with the sega cd. Nintendo was going for an addon like sega cd did the previous generation. Sony was the first to utilize the technology as the exclusive format for their PS.

again....Sony was the first to put dvd in a console as well. wallywallabe wasn't talking about the first to figure out what dvd was or create the format. just first to implement it with a console.

I think blu ray has proved itself by fans of both by now. Any issues about quality are out the window. Reviews of both formats now usually have the pq the same, and the aq favoring blu ray. If anything....reliability with hddvd is waning due to the increasing amount of discs not working in the 1st gen toshiba and the 360 addon. I believe there are three movies just this month with issues.

Cruelty -- Sony's quality? Here we have a news.

ARRESTED FERRET-MISUSER CLAIMS "IT'S NOT ABUSE"

A ghoulish man, arrested yesterday by Kanagawa prefectural police for abusing a ferret, most popular pet, as well as uploaded the crime scene movie to an internet bulletin board, is reportedly claiming to be innocent because he believes "small animals are only physical objects allowed to be knocked about."

This 30-year-old Sony employee, Shinichi Moriyama was arrested for publicly showing the cruelest scene in which he crazily abused the ferret by strangling and so on, on the internet "2 Channel" BBS to which he threw the snuff movie.

Moriyama, committed to Sagamihara branch of Yokohama District Public Prosecutor's Office in the morning today, claims on inquiry that "small animal is only a physical object because it could never have ego" so he believes that "battering such object could never be construed as abuse."

Moriyama also says "besides the ferret, I have bought more than 30 pets such as hamsters and rabbits, all of which I killed several days later and dumped as trash," which drives the police to investigate more.

I love how he uses the term 'qualified butcher', a qualified butcher would realise that in half of the European countries in the world kosher/halal killing is illegal (ie: slow agonising death through mutilated throat where they slice open the neck and physically rip the ausophogus out, which is what you can see hanging from the animal), and is by no means something to be lauded around on stage.
