Bioshock's water is b-e-a-utiful

Bioshock is going to be full of water. Water on the floor, water coming through the walls, water outside the windows, and water in your face. There's a whole bunch of water. And the fine folks at Irrational Games knew they needed to put extra care into making it look perfect. And so, over at the Cult of Rapture website they posted a tech demo of all the water you'll be encountering in Bioshock. Yes, water can be cool to look at and entertaining ... if done right. Now we just need our bubbly soap and a rubber ducky and we'll be golden.

Very nice. But the best looking water I have ever seen so far has been in The Lord of the Rings Online.

I wonder how long it will take Frankie from Bungie to get a jibby off of this?

I love how they put "Work In Progress" at the bottom as if anyone would say anything bad about the water effects. LO...L

Waters one of the hardest things to get right, and it looks like they have, the reflections in the sewer part look amazing, and the waterfall looks really good. Best water I've seen in a game.

At 4...I'm thinking maybe you should go look at LOTR online again, cause the two shouldn't be compared. The makers of bioshock have a person whose soul job is water, thus creating the awesomeness seen in this tech demo. Although perhaps I am wrong. To some color blind people certain colors go great together when they obviously don't...perhaps you are water blind?

The water in LotR online isn't bad, but it's not really anything we've not seen before in every other game. It has some neat waterfalls at times, but otherwise it's mostly just endlessly scrolling stuff like you see in most titles of its type.

I'd have to say this is quite beyond that.

One time I flushed my toilet and then I showered, but while I showered my toilet overflowed.

So when I stepped out of the shower I was ankle deep in cold toilet water.

Hmm.. excellent point muppetmeth, water is indeed wet, comes in different temperatures and often is where you don't want it to be. Therefore this game must be good, so good I will invent some sore of new waterballoon. One with the power to insult someone in two different ways. I will be a large tastie looking tomato hollowed out, filled with water and leakproof.. that is until you hit your mother in the cheek with it.
