Don Bluth trying to make Dragon's Lair movie
Lately it seems like Dragon's Lair has been all over the place. In addition to the recently released (and problematic) Blu-ray version, Cinematical reports that Don Bluth has been shopping around a new Dragon's Lair project recently, complete with a finished script and concept artwork. Bluth had worked on a feature film version that never saw the light of day back in 1983 ( you can check out some storyboards from that here).
It'll be a prequel that details Dirk the Daring's adventures outside the lair ... so wouldn't calling it Dragon's Lair be a bit misleading? Kind of like a Star Wars movie that all takes place on one planet. Still, Bluth was quite the animation director back in the day, so here's hoping that this one gets off the ground and makes it to theaters. It'll have to be better than the Saturday morning cartoon version.
Also, let's hope they give Dirk more to say than "Uh oh." Plus they should talk to this guy about the costuming.

Correct me if I get something wrong, but I loved his movies Secret of Nimh, All Dogs go to Heaven, Land Before Time, and American Tail. I especially liked the first ones and then Disney made the sequels. What were they thinking making Fievel Goes West and its cartoon series a dream? And Little Foot's sequels are too many.
My dad had bought floppies of the game and there were just too many for me to keep track of and I didn't even know how to start it up.

I'd go see it simply for the nostalgia factor.
But hopefully it won't suck as bad as Titan A.E.

Don Bluth Announced this back in 2001 at Comic Con and I think it would be a great movie. Too bad he can't just partner with the "new" Pixar/Disney, now that they are making classic animation again, as without Dragon's Lair there would have been no Lion King and certainly no classical animation left today.

Less Mordroc, more Lizard King. A swordsman fighting a wizard is kinda boring.

I'm not gonna say where but I found the entire TV series. I haven't watched it yet, but I wish they would release them on DVD(The show not the game)
I'm really pumped about this movie, but I hope(and doubt) they'll blend some 3D in the movie. If they do it well(like some scenes in Futurama and Invader Zim) they have the makings for a dynamite classic animated film. I can't wait either way :)

disney did NOT produce any bluth sequels. most of his work is property of universal pictures, and he was considered competion to disney. additionally, most of the TV series and sequels were doe without bluth and gary goldman's involvement.

Whoa, what's with Princess Daphne's skimpy swimsuit?? I don't remember THAT being in the game (and, having first played it as a teen, I'm sure I would have remembered it).

Man, Don and Gary are trying their best to BRING BACK traditionally drawn 2-D animation and you go and say you want to see some 3-D scenes, what a Buffoon!!! And I guess someone doesn't REALLY remember the Dragon's Lair games too well, because that is EXACTLY what Daphne is wearing!! Go check out some of the pictures of her on Don Bluth's website...
