More Sadness details squeezed out of Nibris, the saga continues
Just when we were ready to forget this whole Sadness debacle, Nibris drops a few more pieces of artwork and information to keep our attention, some of which we were already aware of. At least they didn't contradict themselves and start a brand new round of "NIBRIS IS TEH FAEK!!!!111!".
We knew Sadness would feature two main characters: a woman (Maria) and her son Alexander. Now we know that Maria is around 30 years old and of Polish-Hungarian descent. Not exactly earth-shattering information, but what the heck, it's interesting. The game's length has been upped from 15 to 20 hours, and Nibris will use voice acting extensively. Fog will also be a major part of the game, allowing the in-game visuals to match the quality of the concept art released over the last year.
A few other interesting factoids:

A few other interesting factoids:
- There are nearly 50 people involved with the making of Sadness.
- There are 18 species of monsters throughout the game, and different ones will appear depending on how you play.
- Some of the monsters will be "friendly", but don't expect flowers and a shoulder massage.
- The music will be performed by "one of the best" orchestras.
- Release date on the official site is still 2007.

It's vaporware until we see some actual game screens
Blizz4l9 @ May 1st 2007 6:44PM
i still think there fake like i have since nibris popped up on the internet, as i recall i believe one of nibris founders was a fake insider that was making outlandish claims about the Wii before it was released.
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ May 1st 2007 6:48PM
Update: We still can't show you anything, because we don't have anything. We're still fake, just in case you were wondering!
How many similar "Q&A" sessions did Infinium pull?
Yeah, fog will be prominently involved in the game...As in VAPOR.
(Even if you're reading that through Babelfish, Nibris, that's still gotta burn.)

Looks too good to be a Wii game.
Mr Khan @ May 1st 2007 6:53PM
I would definitely say the game is vaporware, at least until we get more info
but the possibility of NiBRis just being a Polish dude in his basement making outlandish claims just dropped from 75% to 65%
Keif @ May 1st 2007 7:35PM
@ #4, it also looks to good to be a ps3 or 360 game, but then again thast because those are photographs cause there are no screenshots.

"How many similar "Q&A" sessions did Infinium pull?"
the phantom may have been vapor ware, but they did release some funky lap-board if i do recall, lol.
it's still really to early to conclude anything on this.

If you think those are photos you are sadly mistaken. They are target artwork and, in some cases, renders that the "company" has said are the goal for the Wii hardware. I wouldn't be surprised if the Wii could handle this, after all, there's a lot of extra power in that thing and I imagine black-and-white is a little easier to do texture-wise.
With that said, it's sad when one of the best potential games for the Wii is, in all likelihood, to remain vaporware. If this game was done similar to RE4 and kept the advertised atmosphere, I'm sure it could be a million+ copy seller.
On a side note, apparently Umbrella Chronicles was supposed to play like RE4. It's a shame it didn't stay that way, I would have bought it then.

I'll believe this once a live demonstration hits.
typoink @ May 1st 2007 11:04PM
Nibris has always said they won't show any gameplay footage or shots until the game is essentially done.
I'm not convinced that Nibris will actually get Sadness out the door, but that doesn't mean Nibris is a "hoax." Unless I'm mistaken, they are a certified Nintendo developer, so SOMEBODY'S got a dev kit somewhere.

"Release date on the official site is still 2007."
Release date for raid over the river on their official site is still 2006.
Sidepocket @ May 2nd 2007 12:31AM
Too Human: They show an early version before it is finished and people bitch.
Sadness: They are waiting until they have good solid footage to show and people bitch.
Make up your mind already gamers.
Not to mention Duke Nukem Forever, the kind of vaporware, had solid footage and it still became vaporware!
Jack the Ripper @ May 2nd 2007 1:59AM
The theme of this game just seems so ham fisted and amateurish. This could very well be the experimental film equivalent of a game, and that is not a good thing. If there is a clown crying or a quick shot of an egg frying in a pan in this game, I will laugh my ass off so very hard.
SuperSneaky @ May 2nd 2007 6:01AM
I will bend round and chew through my own balls if this game ever comes out. Someone record this. I'm being serious.
Crono @ May 2nd 2007 10:58AM
I have a dumb personal request for Joystiq.
Would it be possible to mirror your screenshots on photobucket. For some reason all the images on the site are blocked from joystiq, but photobucket comes through a-ok.
OhJustSomeRandomGuy @ May 2nd 2007 2:23PM
Sidepocket:
Uh, nobody's accusing Too Human of being Vaporware. There's two entirely different sets of criticisms being levelled at the two games.
Too Human: Shows too early, looks crappy. People are saying it looks crappy.
Sadness: "Startup" company in a foreign company announces game, keeps having press conferences to announce game is being made, show no screenshots, people say the game doesn't exist.
You CAN have it both of the ways listed without being a hypocrite.
351 Ranger @ May 2nd 2007 8:24PM
i dunno....it does seem kinda fishy, but I have a feeling this game is real/ will rock. Nintendo could be backing them a 100% and we all know how Nintendo has been about it's high roller games (mario, ssbb, metroid,)
when was the last time we were given new screens for MP3 or even heard any knews about it besides "it's almost done".
besides, look at the picture with the house in it. (with the SADNESS logo)that to me, looks kinda like a screen shot (or could be). It looks relatively close to Zelda TP architecture in black and white.
I say it'll happen sooner or later.
